What would you do if your child set an animal smouldering? What would your punishment be?

that kid needs therapy. most serial killers, started out torturing animals
They don't punish him? He's going to grow up with zero empathy if they hold this up. my child would be in SO MUCH TROUBLE! How did he even get his hands on lighter fluid? I would own put him in his room for the rest of the day and taken away every privilege he had. I'd also be paid him work outside to pay any vet bill there may have be for the poor goat.
That is down right disgusting to think a parent would just basically dismiss that! I would be so batty at my child! I would want to take my kid to a counselor what ever needed be to get to the bottom of this behavior! As far at hurting your animals. I would say something to the kid, and later go back to the parents. Or heck, even call the cops! I'm sure that would rouse the parents up. It's sad to see that kids are like this and not getting the help they have need of.
Harming animals is never a honest sign - he needs counseling.

If he were my child he would be disciplined and I would contact a child psychologist.

It's possible this boy is seeking attention (from the sounds of it - that could be the case) but either method he needs help.
I would be mortified. I would cry without a doubt. Wonder where I failed my child.
He needs to be punished, without question. I also worry about his mental state, though! Setting animals on fire isn't entertainment! That's horrible and SAD (not just for the animals but for the child to think it's amusing).
I would ask the parents if they have considered counseling.

Also- YES it's your business, because it looks like his parents aren't going to bother standing up for the animals. Someone have to.
1ST I WOULDNT LET THE THE KID COME OVER ANY MORE PERIOD... EVER SINCE U CANT SPANK UR KID THE KIDS NOWADAYS THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING CUZ THE KIDS CAN SUE THEM OUT RIGHT AND WIN. IF MY KID DONE THAT GROUNDED FOR LIFE AND NEVER HAVE A ANIMAL AND I WOULD SPANK THE CRAP OUT THE LITTLE MF.. TEACH THE LESSONS EARLY RIGHT?.. THE PARENTS ARE LOSERS AND SHOULD BE BEATEN..
Woah, I would keep an eye on that kid. Animal abuse in childhood is a certain sign of psychopathic tendencies to come... a lot of research done amongst murderers has shown that they did this as kids. You ought to really bargain to his parents about getting him to see a psychiatrist, but if they won't listen, keep your kids and pets well away from him!
Children that ill-treat animals have usually been abused themselves. This little boy needs back, not punishment.
Wait 10 or 15 years to do something and watch as the women contained by town disappear rather than the pets.

Are you kidding me?
Report it to the police! Animal abuse is a CRIME, and at the immensely least, they need to know about it to preserve an eye out for anything else that might happen.
Sounds to me similar to they are raising the next Charles Manson. He needs assist and NOW.
Call CPS on them NOW.Anonymously if you have to.This is a sign of something serious.

Setting fires as children is pretty typical.

Setting animals on fire as children is a sign of a mental disorder.

If they didn't do anything when he did this, there is no point contained by talking to them. They obviously don't care just about others or animals. That is so pathetic.
i would get my child in some kind of psychiatric therapy. things like that can lead to more serious and dangerous issues when the child is elder.

we had a neighbor a few years ago, her son was around 4 or so and would take the stray kittens and blow them up within the microwave, rip the heads off, you name it. something close to that needs more than a punishment, he needs therapy!

it is your business, newly like if you saw him burn a child or if you saw an adult beating a child. if you telephone someone, you can prevent worse things from happening in the future.

i dont want to nouns dramatic or prudish, but that is how a lot of serial killers go and get started...by playing with dead animals or killing them. greatly of times, there is some kind of resentment from the child that makes them work that way, and then lead to worse things
Many murderers and serial killers start out surrounded by their life of crime and pain by hurting and torturing animals at a young age. Now, I am not saw that this boy is going to be the next Ted Bundy but I would absolutely keep him and his family connections away from my child. His parents clearly lack the basic concept of punishment for hurting another living being and that alone scare me, at what point would they intervene? Keep him away from your Son, your family, your animals and your property.
A child that sets animals on fire can't be reached with a punishment. It'd be completely ineffective. It's road bigger than that.

Maybe they are doing something. Maybe they're working with his pediatrician and talking to a psychiatrist. I hope they are anyway. By not being grounded it appears to neighbors that the parents aren't doing anything, but it could be they are massively involved and concerned. It takes a special kind of ignorance to turn a blind eye to that.
Contact your local ASPCA. They will take it very seriously and severely reprimand the parents for not properly educating their child. Studies show that those who are slighting against animals are much, much more likely to be abusive towards people.
