Is too much fruit doomed to failure for kids?
My 3 year old eats fruit all time!! Literally! I'm starting to think that is why she is so damn active during the daytime. Just so you can have an idea of how much fruit she eats..
deeply this is what she eats on a daily basis...
2-3 apples
1-2 bananas
an eternal amount of orange slices
2-3 slices of watermelon
and omg mangos she can down 2-3 mangos a day!
2-3 carrots
2 river bottles
she doesn't eat meats.. on occasion she'll chomp through chicken (pineapple chicken LOL)
I've tried and tried to cut back but I always give contained by since fruit is the only thing she'll eat.
lol relatives give her the nickname -fruity pebbles-
I've asked her Dr if it's ok but he just looks at me weird close to if I'm lying or something and i swear im not..
We spend about 40-50 bucks just on fruit a week.
I'm glad to hear that your daughter loves fruit. It can have many mandatory vitamins. However, fruit has a high content of natural sugars which is not perfect in large quantities. I love the thought of blending fruit with yogurt and whey protein. This tastes good and contains a fine balance of protein and fruit. Also, try making a ham and pineapple pizza for her, if she likes pizza. Most kids do. Try and teach her what is sound. I know she's only 3 but you have to start young until that time it is too late and she become set in her ways. Goodluck, I know how challenging a 3 year old-fashioned can be.
Too much of anything is unpromising. I suggest making some sort of meat, and put fruit in a cup, then say, the single way you get the fruit is to eat the meat. If she doesnt resembling it give her a salad, but that does seem like like mad of fruit.
And I thought my kids ate a lot of fruit! It's better that she's a fruit-a-holic than a junk-food-addict but you didn't say if she eats anything else, or if she drinks milk. If i.e. her entire menu, I'd say, yes, she needs to get some other things into her diet, and drinking milk, but I'm no expert. As the mom of two fruit lovers, this is what I do to go and get them to eat a wider variety...
-- Mix the fruit in other things. One of my kids' favorite breakfasts is oatmeal next to berries, granted it's 2 cups of berries to one cup of oatmeal, but I make the oatmeal with milk, so it gives extra protein, grain and fiber, plus all the goodies in blueberries, stawberries and raspberries. Yogurt and cottage cheese lend themselves really well to this responsibility too.
-- Give other things first. If we're having eggs, toast and oranges for breakfast, I'll give the eggs and toast first, with no mention of oranges at adjectives. I let the kids eat their full, then I bring out the oranges once they've eat as much as they will of the other items. It never fails, they'll down the fruit, but if I started with the fruit first, they would have never eat the other stuff.
-- Bribing does have its place. There are many meals surrounded by my house where my three year old is told, "eat three more bites of chicken and two more bites of rice and you can enjoy a slice of watermelon" or whatever the fruit of the moment is. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
--Bring on the veggies. Since your daughter loves fruit, chances are she'll love veggies too. The doc never believes me when I say my kids' favorite foods are fruit and veggies. Sure, they close to their junk stuff too, but the first thing off their plates are fruit and veggies. Go integer. They both hate meat though too. :)
-- If you want to try more meat, one thing I've found my kids will eat is deli meat rolled up beside a slice of cheese. We call it a roll up and this seems to please them. lol.
Not as long as she's getting some protein and calcium. Try blending them with whole fat yogurt and liquid for smoothies (protein and calcium)
Too much of anything can be bad for you it seems like...but if this is what she will get through then that's great...i'd try mixing the fruits with other things though...cooked apples and pork cops can taste really right if you know how to cook it.
too much of anything (water even) is bad for you...
It is very bad for her health is she eat nothing else.
The juices from the fruit will erode at her teeth
Too much of certian vitamins can cause condition problems (dirrorea)
Too much of anything can be unhealthy (too much water can be fatal), and fruit is full of sugar. That being said, I would be smaller amount concerned that she is eating a lot of fruit (which is a lot more adjectives than her doctor seems to realize - I had a cousin who preferred veggies and health food to sweets), and more concerned that she isn't covering her other food groups.
Human beings necessitate protein, and the lack of it can cause serious health issues.
I would chitchat to her doctor again, and maybe see a nutritionist. Make sure her doctor doesn't brush you off, your child's nutrition is important.
In the meantime, be glad that your child is addicted to fruit, and not processed second-hand goods food.
Answers: I'd rather my kids ate fruit than sweets but I ponder what your daughter is eating is a bit too much.
doctors reccommend 5 a day, so I don't think going rather over that will cause any harm
If she see's you eating meat and enjoy it, (make the YUmmmmy and Mmmmm this is sooo delicious act seem convincing lol) she might be tempt to try what you have Give her some from your plate then offer to put together her some if she like it
The other thing you can try is saying you've run out of fruit and can't carry any more until tomorrow, would she like to try a meat sandwhich?
she will grow out of this in ten years you might be on here asking how to stop her eating pizza lol
Good luck!!
