I would just ignore it. After 3 nephews and adjectives the screaming and crying they can do, I have learned over time to ignore "jingle." Obviously, as a mother, you can tell when your child is really hurt or something, so you can go into action. But when it's newly whining, I just ignore it.

Yes, that sounds like a suitable idea, but may chock her, a better idea is to give the childs bottom a hurried slap, hard enough to get the childs attention, but not too frozen to hurt her too badly, to tell her to shut up.
