~ Question for SAHM's ~?
I am also a SAHM and I will be one until my children are all in school but I be just wondering if you think you will always know how to be one or since the economy is so bad that you might have to start looking for a charge too? Do you think the economy will get put money on to normal so you can still stay at home?
I know I will other be a stay at home mom, but I'm probably going to have to start babysitting as well. Money seems to be getting tighter and tighter here.
I don't verbs too much about the economy. It doesn't effect us too much where we live, but also I know that looking backbone at history you will see how we eventually pull ourselves out of it. Things always get better. Not sure how long it will hold though. But we are secure enough that I can continue to be a stay at home mom.
My husband prides himself surrounded by being able to support our family so I can be here for our kids. I hold thought of finding something I can do from home, but haven't really done that yet. I just want to feel close to I"m contributing. But my husband always reminds me that I AM contributing in many esteemed ways. He's the greatest :)
I guess the ultimate question is..do your kids need the things that money can buy, or the things money can't buy?
i'm not sure about the discount. both my kids will be in school full time in 4 years so i'm pretty sure the reduction will still be about the same, but i want to go subsidise to work when the start school. at least part time it will make available me something to do.
ive been a sahm since my oldest be born and she is 6 now and will be in 1st grade this yr.i also hold a 2 yr old that i am at home with as of now i enjoy thought about teaching preschool 2 days a week,just during conservatory yr i would be off in summer and would be able to lug my youngest with me,but still get off contained by time to pick my oldest up from school.it wouldnt be for money as i would have to pay for my little one to turn half price but it would get me prepared a little for when i do stir back to work when my youngest gets in conservatory full time.ive stayed home so long i cant imagine how hard it will be having to hold a work schedule whether it be part or full time.and as far as the economy go by the time i had to pay for daycare for my 2 yr old and afterschool meticulousness for my 6 yr old it wouldnt really be worth going back to work full time. I go back to work when my youngest went into 1st grade for insurance reason. My husband switched jobs and while he is happier the insurance is terrible. So I went to work as an EA for the institution district, they offer great benefits and I work my kids schedules and it gives us somewhat extra money. I really like working with kids so it is nice to have a available job I truly enjoy. But I kind of miss being at home, or not have to shop the busy times of day etc.
Well I'm a home maker but will be a stay at home mom Insha Allah until my death when Allah (SWT) blesses us next to children. The living in my husband's country is cheap and there are no taxes to pay. When my husband retires from his post he'll get half of his salary from his ex employer. There is no want for health insurance or social security in my husband's country because medical attention and education is free for citizens of my husband's country so we won't have to pay anything for our children's college or medical bills. He may go back home once he graduates surrounded by May 2010 from the University he is attending (he's double majoring in two technology degrees) and get himself a job for 1 year. I'll stay here to attain my B.A. degree and then he'll try to come back to acquire his Ph. D. The college I'll be going to for my B.A. degree isn't open to USA citizens in foreign countries so I'm stuck here for 2 1/2 more years to find my B.A. degree. I'm trying to get my A.S. by December 2009 so I can start my B.A. in January 2010.
I hope so, but my husband's company is already seriously downsizing, and have laid off many people... I'm not waiting around, twiddling my thumbs, hoping it doesn't crop up to him; I've been selling things on eBay, and it's going well! It's enough to supplement, and if it starts to be not plenty, I won't hesitate to go out there and achieve a job. I have to do my part to serve support my family... My husband getting a 2nd job---though he's willing, if need be---is not an leeway for me... The kids miss their dad as it is, and he would barely see him. Source(s): Married, with 4 kids.
I don't know about the economy, but I know I'll progress back to work when my kids are able to walk to and from arts school without me safely. That way I'm giving them some freedom, tuition them to be self-sufficient, as well as giving myself something new to do...
Answers: Back in 1983 when I quit my full time job to stay home and lift up my kids I was told that it "takes two people working these days to raise a family". Well, maybe, but it all depends on what your values are and if you are predisposed to sacrifice things for family. I sacrificed a lot within order to stay home and raise my own kids. I sacrificed my time, my enthusiasm, and my wants. It was all worth it. And much more rewarding than adjectives the things I might have acquired or done over the years.
I washed cloth diapers out by appendage EVERY night for years just so I could save ample money for bread and milk for the week. I saved roughly $10 per week doing this~$40 a month, which was a lot subsidise then. I shopped thrift stores and garage sales in proclaim to buy our clothes and other wants such as crock pots and household goods. We did not go on material vacations. The idea was not even discussable as here was no money for such extravagance.
Do I regret it? No! My kids were worth every worn out hand that wrung out diapers, every used item (which I still own most of them!), and vacation are fun, but fleeting, and they won't last and do not give you anything except for temporary cheerfulness. However, the time spent with your kids will give you a lifetime of happiness.
Do you efficacy family over things? Do you have to have a topical house? A new car? A vacation every year? Designer clothes, shoes, or purses? Do your kids own to belong to everything such as gymnastics, dance, and Karate? Do you need to "keep up near the Jones's"?
We lived very frugal. We continue to live very frugal, though we don't hold to, but my husband works hard for our money so why would I just give it away will-nilly short stretching it as far as it will go by being a good steward of this hard-earned money? It resources I shop sales, I clip coupons, I do without wants and focus on wants, and I don't go on shopping sprees~except at Christmas, and even then I am careful next to what I buy and how much I spend. We do not do without necessities and we live and eat very in good health. We are living out the "American Dream" and I am very happy with enthusiasm. I have never had to do without any TRUE necessity. A necessity is not a want! It is a need. We need shelter, food, clothing, but we do not need a mansion, steak every hours of darkness, or Gucci shoes. Learn to compromise, but always buy quality real food as your vigour is valuable! This means none to little over-processed foods. Buy quality meat, on sale, and fruits and vegetables, in season. Buy frozen vegetables out of season. Learn to cook most all foods from gash and don't buy boxed dinners!
And please consider NOT putting your kids in the public school system! It has become an evil place where on earth you will lose those babies you love so much. You will lose them to the culture and it is rare to get them back. They will revise values foriegn to the way you are raising them, and they will be exposed to things you will not approve of. The public school system is how America have been changed within such a short time~and this change have not been good!
You can live a very fun and upright life with your family short all the "extras" you think you cannot live without. As the kdis obtain older you can begin to do the things they won't remember anyway and that you can do later, such as vacation and such. Vacations can be a tent sprung up in the backyard, a day trip to a canoe livery, or an organized block party next to the neighbors. Get creative!
If times get very bad and you must step back to work, then you work when your hubby is home with the kids so that adjectives your hard-earned money isn't going out in babysitting, gas, clothing, and car maintenance. It have often been proven that it does not pay for most women to work outside the home when adjectives costs are factored in, but these women have been so brain-washed into thinking that they "have" to work or they are nobody or that they cannot uphold a lifestyle they think they want, when in fact, they are too worn out to even delight in life! Our children should be our first priorities, not our careers. Mommyhood is a career! :)
I actually wonder if the economy is so bad that it'd be thorny to even find another job when it's time to go back to work. Or if I'd grasp paid enough to justify daycare expenses.

I am going to try to stay at home as long as possible..I might try working from home though..I pray everyday that the cutback gets better..I think it will be its still scary!
It's already gotten bad satisfactory for us that I actually applied for some jobs yesterday. My maternity take off doesn't finish up until August, but if one of those places call me before then, I'm going to be taking the work they offer me.
We're not really in a position for me to be sitting at home being picky going on for where I work anymore. It really, really sucks.
