16 year hoary daughter?
how old should your 16 year old daughter be allowed to date, or should there be no reduce? when i say no limit i dont mean resembling she can date 25 but would 20 be to much?
Well I'm 14 and the oldest I've date is three years older. Thats the limit my parents put.
If I had a 16 year dated daughter, she could date other 16 year olds and 17 year olds. They would all have to submit to meeting me and spending an evening near the family before she would get my approval. Anything elder than 17 or younger than 16 would not be allowed (as it's not even legal here.)
My parents let my 16 year old sister run out of control and do whatever she wants with regard to dating, and I hope to god someday she still manages to learn how to act similar to a lady. At the moment I fear it may be too late. NOT my children!

To Jason: The age of consent surrounded by Michigan is in fact 16, however once one turns 18 they cannot have sex beside someone under 18. Our age of consent only allows minors of a certain age to consent to sex next to OTHER MINORS of a certain age. Adults are not allowed to have sex near minors under any circumstances. And as a 20 year old, I have to disagree near your assertion that it's "pretty normal" to be having sexual relations with 16 year olds. That's disgusting and any 20 year old I know would be ashamed of themselves.
Answers: Closer to her own age would be better if this is her first time at dating. Maybe if she went out on group dates with others her age. Explain to her if at any time she feel uncomfortable on a date she can call you and you will come and get her where on earth ever she is and no questions asked. Most young girls are more mature than guys their own age. Make curfew at 10pm weekends 9pm university nights. When my daughters went out if they came contained by 30 minutes late they lost 30 minutes the next night. It didn't crop up a lot when they knew it messed with their time out. its legal in some state im 22 and my gf is 16 here surrounded by michigan is like europe, the legal age is 16 not 18,but well,shes pretty grown for her age and we also knew each others about 4 yrs.my sister is 17 and his bf is 24 and i know sooo heaps couples like that(late teen/early,mid 20's)and also,in all states its permitted to date when ur 16 unless u hav sex
but again,it all depends on ur daughter in my opinion 16/20 s pretty conventional
That depends entirely on your view as a parent and on your daughter. Some parents don't let their children date at all, others give theirs complete freedom, and others are somewhere between the two extremes. None of explicitly "right" or "wrong", it's just diversity between parenting styles. What are your own opinions? That is what you need to consult. If you're have trouble coming to the decision alone... think about what type of personality your daughter is, how trustworthy she is, and base your decision on that. Personally I think my inclination would be to allow her to date, but beside strict ground rules, no 'sleepovers', I want to meet the boy, no sneaking around, and consequences if any of that happens - and nobody above the age of 18. I have a 16 year weak sister and the thought of her dating a 20 year old man seems sick to me. And all of that would be base on her being a good natured, respectful, reliable and trustworthy character, and if any of that changed consequently the rules would get stricter.
16 is a apposite age to start dating.
18 would bet the limit for me.
okay as we get older we make unpromising and good choices... i mean check the boy out and decide if your daughter is matured they it may be okay but dont spy and stuff on them but make sure hes acts nice and stuff. remember getting hurt make us stronger
20 is means of access too old for a 16 year old. It's also illegal.
