It is going on 11pm and my son can not dive asleep?!?
My son is 6 years old and has been sick times past 3 days and he has been very irritable and purely not himself. And bed times lately have been a pain surrounded by my ***. He refuses to go to sleep and he throws a temper tantrum unless i stay beside him. And i have tried just leaving but he crys for hours on shutting down. So i am at a lose for what to do at this point he has always been glib to get to sleep. Advice?
Walk away
Well, my advice may not be the best advice and I'm not sure if it will work or not but anyway you can try rhythm him on the shoulder and playing a lullaby to soothe him and he may fall asleep. But one way that i have found in actuality works with quite a few people. I'm simply not sure if it will work for your son. Anywho, play the song 'Black or White by Michael Jackson'. I've found that this song has helped several people to fall down asleep. Also you can give up Neocitrin to drink, it helps by making u drowsy and you will easily crash down asleep.
relate him that just this once, just once, he can camp out on the couch. Set him up a nice cozy "fort", put on a movie and set the tv timer to shift off when it's over.
Tell him he can only do it if he promises to be good and fairly and sleep in his own bed tomorrow.
I own read in many parenting magazines that it is ok to occasionally dispense a does of benadryl to a child who is having problems sleeping. Ur peds office should have an after hours answering service, give the name them and see what they say. Dont worry all Moms turn thru this at some point. Its hard but u will get thru it and I hope ur LO feels better soon.
do what i do.
holler for your wife to come and get him, state that you just cant bear his crap no more.
talk to him and try to cheer him up
try giving him warm milk or something
:}
let somebody know a story!!
he probably just wants some attention soo if he continues to cry it would be best if u just make tracks him alone until he stops
let him know that he wont get attention that way
right luck!! and stay positive Im sure that UR a good mother
Answers: Depending on the type of illness (no stomach bugs!) we would allow the sick young one to sleep between us. They have to follow the rules and let mom and dad get to sleep within a few minutes, perchance after a song or a story. We asked that she lay still, head on the pillow, and be very quiet. Usually inwardly about 20 minutes to a 1/2 hr. the child would be sleeping off and on for the night. - and even though our sleep be somewhat disturbed by a crowded bed and kicking little feet, we got our sleep too.
If the child is older, or it is a stomach bug - we made a short time sleeping place on the floor beside our bed. The presence of the parents allowed the child to reach a deeper level of relaxation than their anxiousness had be far away in the child's room.
Remember that 1/2 of illness for a child is the emotional component.
For a child near a cough or a stomach bug, I've spent many a night rocking the little one in the recliner bench, catching sleep in segments. Source(s): Mom of 5
Mother's secrets =
rest your paw, skin against skin over either the child's chest or upper back
while holding the child, hum slow songs softly. I like to sing mature spirituals or hymns like Amazing Grace. Use your low tones, they create a peaceful, restful mood. The child likes both the nouns and your voice's vibration.
crying himself to sleep sounds like a good idea. hopefully, he's not a screamer.
a pain for you? i am so sorry for you [not!] this is incredibly selfish of you, these are the sacrifices we hold to make as parents. my mom is the most amazing mom & i miss not being taken care of by her anymore when im sick, she never blinked an eye when i threw up adjectives over the place, all over her, she only cared nearly me. i could **** on the celing and she would be like wow you must feel horrable. she would also stay with me at hours of darkness if i wanted her to or wake up in the middle of the dark if i needed her all the way up untill i left the house at 18. she have always been there when i obligation her super mom 24/7 & i can only hope to EVER be half as good a mom as her!
Have you tried wine even so?!
