My daughters and my sisters?
I have twin daughters, Annabelle and Isabelle, who are seven months old. I also have twin sisters, Mallory and Paige who are 11 years prehistoric. Mallory and Paige always want to help with my daughters, which is great and I cheer that sort of positive attitude towards their nieces.
The problem is, since they turn 12 soon, they have been asking if they will then be allowed babysit. They are great near them, really mature and are fully capable of looking after Annie and Issie, but I'm not sure if 12 is too young?
Being a childish mother myself, I don't feel as though people should be judged entirely by their age, so I want your opinion on whether you would let them babysit or not?
Look into the age limit for your state. I understand your concern. As an expecting mother, I am not sure I want anyone except my parents to babysit. The funny thing is I started babysitting at the age of 10.
You may want to consent to them start slowly (you need to run the the grocery store and will only be gone for 10-20 min). This will help you and them work up to notion comfortable and secure in the situation.
Like you mentioned I don't think your sisters should be judged as fit babysitters solely base on their age. You said they are "really mature and are fully capable" so I think it would be OK to let me scrutinize your daughters. If you are nervous you could get them to babysit for a couple hours while you are out in the courtyard or are running a few errands close to home. That way if something happens and they need you are just a short distance away.
i would say perchance for a couple of hours while you go shopping or something like that but not long. i have a two year dated daugther and i wont leave her with my 15 year old cousin for more than 2 hours at a time
For a short period of time yes. But instinctively i wouldnt for more than an hour or two. Im the type though that feels children shouldnt be babysitting children..The youngest person ive had babysit for us be 17 and even that made me nervous.I prefer handing my child over to adults...But if you feel close to they will be fine then go for it..Maybe do a test sit...Go relax somewhere close and agree to them watch while your close by too see how things go...
Good Luck.
12 thats fine..
they should be fine real fine Source(s): me
12 is elderly enough.
You need to make sure they hold a Red Cross Safety Certificate. this is extremely important so that they can save a choking baby. Good Luck! It's well brought-up that you trust them
Answers: That's so beautiful to have twin daughters and sisters. That depends on what state you live contained by. I live in Illinois and the legal age to babysit is 13. Go to www.wikianswers.com and type in 'permissible age for babysitting in (state) '. Your sisters sound like wonderful children and they own the right idea in mind, but you also want to do things by the book, otherwise it will come back to bite you within the butt. You don't seem like a bad mother at adjectives. You have to look out for the best interest of your children and that's what mothers do. Good luck!
i think its fine...as long as u dont stay out long.. and that u know how your sister act when they obligation to be responsible.
