I tolerate my daughter CIO the other dark?
And she slept all night. She cried for about 20 minutes and slept adjectives night, as compared to the 3-4 hours of sleep at a time she's been having since she be born. She's 16 months old. Does this make me a bad mother?

Just bored ladies, trying to entertain myself :)
Of course you are not a bad mother, she merely cried 20 minutes then slept all night! It worked out apt this time. I read though, that if you come when a baby cries up until he is 6 months, s/he is most likely to cry a lot smaller quantity when they are over 6 months.
I don't suggest you're a bad mom! I used controlled crying with my daughter after having serious sleep issues. I would enjoy to rock her to sleep which sometimes took an hour or more, then finally once I got her to bed she would wake up every hour until after the fifth or sixth time I broke down and brought her to bed next to me. And, she would only nap if I held her the entire time (4-6 hours a day). This went on for months! If anything I chew over your a better mother because your daughter is able to get a really good night's sleep.
And those pics are adorable! I love hip bath pics as long as they're not inappropriate!
Answers: You are a horrible mother. I am calling social services right presently, hold on!
I think there's a big difference between letting a 4 day old cry it out and letting a 16 month prehistoric cry it out. I don't rush to my 2 1/2 year old every time he starts crying, he needs to learn that crying isn't going to receive him whatever he wants. I think it's moral for him to learn to do things himself, like when he cries when he can't figure out how to do something. I loaf it out and give him a few minutes. He usually figures it out on his own.
You just better hope that you know who doesn't see those pics! He might win offended!
:)
Sophie had her 9 month checkup today. She is only 17lbs 11 oz. That's the 31%. The MD said to basically keep breastfeeding as much as I can (she's down to 4 nursings a day) and I can give her up to 8 oz's of whole milk a daytime to supplement. I wish she would gain a little more weight though.
Nope by her age she should be sleeping all night so I chew over you did the right thing, I hate letting my children cry but if its for their own good I will do it. Jack is 12 months old-fashioned and I never did the CIO but if he would starting waking up I think I might try it. Cute Pics.
We can never talk on the phone again!..Heehee
EDIT-Just remember, since I am such a horrible, niggardly, breast feeding mother, if you even THINK anymore quitting breast feeding, we ARE done..(let's see if anyone believes that!)
"Does this make me a bad mother?"
Trust me, you don't want my opinion on this one.
I don't even see the plus, really. Just put yourself to bed earlier if the sleep deprivation is starting to take its toll. Childhood lasts this wee little time and next *poof*! -- gone forever... What have you gained here?
no you are not a bad mom.. your kids are super cute!
did you do it again the next night? i'm curious..
Yes. I can't believe they let you breed.
Totally Kidding =) Of course, you aren't a unpromising mother. And your babies are absolutely beautiful!
Your kids are so cute! Oh my!!
And don't feel bad around the CIO thing. I had to resort to it too. Sometimes you do what you have to do to product sure your kids get a healthy amount of sleep. ...and you do too in the process.
Mine is 14 months older and I had to let her CIO (again) last dark too. I laid next to the crib till she fell asleep. I had to do it at 8 months too and it worked wonderfully. Don't know what happened, but hopefully tonight will be smoother. Good luck to you and wish your babies sound rest :)
my daughters 15 months old next week and we started letting her CIO arond 12 months.. if needed. and you are NOT a bad mother.. getting sleep make u a better mother if you ask me!
What the heck is CIO?
I never let my son cry, my personal nouns, for myself and for him.
My three year feeble daughter still wakes sometimes at night, crying. Sometimes she cries when I put her to bed too. The difference between a 16 month old and 3 year antediluvian, is that at 3, my daughter can communicate her needs to me. She can tell me she's crying because she's scared or have a bad dream or doesn't want to be alone. I then comfort her, cuddle her and read to her until she falls asleep. That may take 20 minutes.
Instead of listen to your baby girl cry herself to sleep, you could have spent the 20 minutes comforting and cuddling her to sleep.
A 16 month old will still cry because they want their mother's comfort and warranty. Teaching a child this young that their needs are not important and that they don't deserve the protection of their mother when they are inconsolable is a very harsh lesson.
Edit: Dealing with a tired, cranky toddler is difficult. I speak from experience. Personally, I couldn't tolerate my daughter cry it out.
