How plentiful words could/can your 16 month ripened voice?
I'm one to always say babies develop at their own rates but I get really concerned near Noah's language development. He will be 16 months old subsequent week and when I took him in for his 15 month appointment the doctor didn't seem concerned with how many(or how little) words he be able to say. I do talk to him each day, I show him items and tell him what they are, and if I'm doing something like laundry I will tell him what I'm doing. I've tried flash cards beside him and I try to read to him but he's too busy to sit still for more than 2-3 minutes!
Words he can say clearly:
Mama
Dada
Hi
Yay
That(although it comes out more like "dat" but he's pointing at items when saying the word)
How various words should he be saying and how many words was your little one axiom at this age? He's done great with milestones thus far and seems to be a normal, glad, toddler but I worry about his words.
that sounds about right...
my 20 month old can utter many things now, but a few months back, she be limited to saying Mama, Dada, Mickey (bickey), Jamie (Jabie), Book, Doggy, Woof, Kitty (key), Eat, No, Hot, Kaka, Cracker, Cookie, Stinky (tinky), Ni-Night, Blankie.
Just keep encouraging him. do not allow him to point at things he requests, try to get him to use his words as much as possible.
Wow, I have been emailing a friend just about my son, Brody all day.
He's 16 months as well and pretty much singular says..
Hi
Uh Oh
Mama-with NO specific meaning
Dada-with NO specific meaning
ba-for globe.
The Dr. has expressed concern and I've been worried ever since. :(
But seeing this question have relieved me a little bit.
Well heck- Noah is doing better then Brayden!
Brayden one and only says Mama, Dada, and Nana. lol
He will be 15 months next week.
Well I can tell you that at that age, my middle child was not motto any words at all. So in my book, Noah is doing excellent.
Sean (14 mo) is now adage:
Mama
Daddy
Hi
Yay
Nanny
Ball
I'm trying to teach him new words, but currently he is obsessed near daddy and hi. Every five minutes all I hear is Hi, Hii, Hiiiiiiiiii
My 13 1/2 month can say about indistinguishable, give or take ("uh-oh" is his big word). Remember that boys frequently develop language a bit then than girls - I remember my niece at this age and she was quite the chatterbox. But the girl/boy thing is frequently true and not something to verbs about.
At 16 months Landon could say about 30 words. Now, at 22 months he can articulate just about anything you ask him to. My nephew, on the other hand, is 22 months elderly and only says about 4 words. Start saw words and then tell Noah "you say it" and only just do this for everything.
my 17 month old baby boy says
mama
papa
globe
hot dog
no
hi
bye
mine
water
juice
bottle
handy manny
winne the pooh
doggie
ouch
and a bad word that he get form his uncle
At 16 months, Georgia could say:
Hi
Bye Bye
Yeah
Mama
Dada
Doggy
kittie kittie
That
Now at 19 months, she is starting to try to right to be heard more and more. I worried about Georgia's speech too, but I know she is doing ok. I think Noah sounds right on track.
Sarah ( 17 months) has a good Vocab...Does she use the words often? No. Do I consider her knowing these words? Yes. I hold recently counted all the words that she has said and it be 40+. She only says a few words daily or recurrently. But she knows a lot more. She mainly say her own language, which is " dooter dooter" sounds just like that too. ( must be newborn secret talk)
she says these all the time:
Dada ( also daddy, dado & dad)
Momma or mom
Hi
Helloooo
Uht oh
Oh No
Dat
Ah Done
Nigh Nigh
bye bye
did it
No
Yea
Stinky(while plugging her nose)
A,E,I,O ooou ( vowels)
Un, do, tree ( 123)
Gace ( Grace)
meow
Tank you
--
We hold been using homemade flash cards, with, animals, colors, vowels, numbers, people, objects and body parts written on one side and the other pics I printed out paste to them. It has helped a lot. I wouldn't verbs about it, like you said babies learn and develop at thier own gait. And soon you will have a lil man who will be talking you ear off.
Audrey has matching birthday as Noah :) She can say the following words (I've also written how she says them if she doesn't say them exactly right. She's plainly saying these words since she's pointing to the thing/person when she says it but it comes out in cute babe-in-arms talk :D):
Mommy
Daddy
Duck (duuh)
Doggy
Banana (nana)
Grandpa (papa)
Uh-oh
Bye-bye
Hi
Hello (haawooah)
Cracker (crckr)
Apple (abbull)
Ball
Car (cahh)
No
Bubble (bubbbooo)
Moo (when asked what a cow says)
Monkey (maanny)
She can say 1 or 2 more I can't think of right very soon. I know at her 15 month appointment the pediatrician asked me to list how many she could say and it be about 18 then. She was surprised which made me proud. You're right though adjectives babies develop at different paces. Audrey didn't crawl until ten months and walked at about 12 1/2. She have 6 teeth which I think is less than normal for a 16 month prehistoric, no? Little Noah is doing just great- and don't you love "uh oh"? That was one of Aud's first words...adorable when they say it! Source(s): mommy to almost-16 month ripened Audrey :)
Oh yea she also says "all done", "more", "milk", "go" and her name...comes out resembling "Awwddrrry"
Answers: He's doing just fine!!
You own listed "words he can say clearly"
What about words he doesn't right to be heard clearly?
Lucy (17.5 months) has a pretty big word list for her age. And I'd say she's probably picking up a modern word every day. Yesterday she came out with her 1st three word phrase ("no more monkey")
BUT, if I scheduled her "clear" words only, he word list would be significantly smaller.
For example, "finished" is /nini/. I only know what she is clich¨¦ because she signs it too.
Having said that, even if he doesn't have any extra "unclear" words, he really is coming along just fine. 6 words at 15 months is within conventional limits. And you'll probably find that one day quite soon, he'll probably start trying to repeat everything you voice and will pick up a tonne of new words in a very short time frame.
You nouns like you are doing the right things with him. The only point I can add (you are probably doing this though, you just didn't specify it), is to use mostly single words and repeat them. You can use a sentence to to help his good judgment of how words go together. For example if you see dog:
"Oh look Noah, there's a dog... dog... it's a big dog.. dog... can you see the dog?. dog.dog"
And once he starts using more single words, you can combine the words he does have and use them in 2 word phrases. "hi mama" "uh oh, Dada"
Good luck and agree to me know if you want any more info Source(s): I'm a speech path
my son just recently turned 15 months old. he can read out "dada" (sometimes "daddy"), "mama", he "meows" at our cat, he says "nehneh" when hungry or wants his sippy filled, he say "hi" or "hey" on occasion, and doesnt exactly say uh oh, but "oooooooh", he says something similar to "shzoo shzoo" but I have no idea what that is lol. save for those words he babbles and babbles in some tot foreign language I dont understand. keep surrounded by mind too mama, that your son is a young toddler and it is normal for only a few allowable words to be heard at this age! some at this age can say alot, others only rather. I met a 7 month old who said Hi to everyone in sight! my son uncommonly says HI and he's 15 months old! Source(s): one of the mamas brought up an interesting point! as much as I talk and buoy my son, he is an only child so far, and if he had a sibling i'm sure he'd be talking more! enormously interesting!
Jana turned 16 months yesterday. She says:
Mama
Dada
Hi
Hello
Bye Bye
Ha Ha
Tickle Tickle
Uh Hu and Uh Uh
Bella (dog's name)
Brother (but it sounds like "ba da")
Bed Party (long story lol)
Light (we point to the ceiling and articulate "what's up there")
Peek a Boo (sounds more like "beep a boo")
At 16 months Patrick barely talk at all-It was still mostly bables. He didn't really start talking until he was almost 2. I've other heard boys and first children tend to talk (and hit milestones) later than girls and subsequent children.
Brianna have been talking out the storm lately. Most of it is gibberish though.
She can say
Hi
Bye
Momma
pappa
shoes
for socks she say "seeeeeeee"
awww for ouch
toodles she says after watching mickey mouse.
Yeahhhhh
she says all done after finshing up the spread. not clearly though..
she say "gone" because when I leave to work.
she does good immitations of "baaaa" for sheep & dog and cat.
She does say aloud "uh ohh"
She goes to daycare and she has been learing most of the things in attendance.
She will be 15months next week.
Ah... I know how you feel.
My sons vocabulary at 16 months was massively limited
Mainly the same words as your son.
I have read so masses different things as to how many words babies should be saying at each age, adjectives of which have been very conflicting.
I enjoy read also that between 16- 18 months, toddlers really hit a language growth spurt.
I think my son as really hit this lately, as he has be picking up on more words within just the past week. He is 17 months, almost 18 months.
Words include
momma
daddaa
bubble
bubble
fishy
milk
nah (for no)
cracker
occasionally I have heard "done"
yeah
uh oh
banana which is banana
see
go
hi but it comes out more approaching "i" silent H I guess, but I do know he is trying to say hi as he says it as a greeting while waving
and only yesterday he learned baby... although it comes out like bab- bee This word he picked up on within the grocery store when I handed him a doll and said baby.
Most of these new words of his own all been learned in the past two weeks. He is saying a new word almost everyday for days gone by week.
So, try not to stress too much. I am sure he will start spouting off words before you know it. Its hard not to verbs though, I know, I worry all the time...lol.
I tried the flash cards to, with no luck. Objects particularly work better. Such as when he is playing with a ball. Repeat ball bubble ball
This works well with bubbles too, while blowing bubbles, that's how he academic bubbles. During lunch or snacks I repeat what he is eating.
Fish was learned by every time we step to walmart, we walk over the fish tanks and I showed him the fish. Just last darkness when we got to walmart, I always head to the direction of the fish. Well he know whats coming, because we weren't even half way there and he starts turning his body around surrounded by the cart and saying... fishy... fishy.
So, I would use objects.
And remember, as I know, don't compare. It will drive you crazy. Besides, sometimes I really doubt parents complete honesty when it comes to questions resembling these.
My son say only those words too except Mama : ( He saves that word for when he's upset and/or whining...lol. He also doesn't say "uh oh" but I can't wait- i.e. cute!
He is right on point. My nephew didn't say ANY words at 2 years old. Then one day when he be about 28 months he just started saying everything. He have a new word literally everyday. He never shuts up now (I'm kidding.) But seriously, he dialogue ALL THE TIME! Source(s): 15 month old
Poppy will be 15 months in August and can say:
Mama
Dada
Hi
Ta (thanks)
Bye Bye
Whats that (comes out as wasat)
Uh oh
Gone
Ball
Book (more like ook)
Nana
Dad da dad (grandad - solitary when she sees my Dad)
Choo choo (when playing with her trains)
Wheres it gone (more like wheresitgawn)
Lets move about (sgo)
God, now that I list them all she really does voice a lot of words. Oh and baby as she plays with her kid dolls a lot. Having said that, she is very vocal but would not wander or take a single step if her life depended on it so I guess all babies really are different.
First of all don't worry that will sound similar to dat for a few more years! My son could say quite a few more words than this, but he is an only child, you didn;t vote if you had more than 1 kiddo, but a lot of times they don't talk because they don't requirement to. When he turns 2 he will never shut-up! Source(s): I am a Mom
my little sister learned to say mama, da, bug, and my little brother could say big bout, orb, grandmama, papa, high five, a b c, and kitty cat before the age two. So if you really start talking next to them they will begin to learn. :)
