What is Colic? How does it effect babies?

?
My second daughter have colic for several months. She used to scream from about 6pm-12am every night almost similar to clockwork. She would pull her little legs up to her belly like it hurt, and scream contained by pain for hours on end. The best things that worked for her were putting her contained by a front facing baby carrier and wearing her while I walked around; holding her surrounded by my arms facing away from me, with my arm giving gentle pressure on her belly as I bounced her gently; and for some aim holding her on top of the washing machine while it be spinning, or on top of the dryer. There was something about those two things that be comforting to her.
Colic is unexplained bursts of screaming in babies. It usually starts at around 3 weeks and ends at around 3-4 months.
The baby will scream for more than 3 hours a hours of daylight (usually in the evenings) and nothing will comfort them. They used to think it be gas pains or digestive discomfort but there isnt an actual cause that they can pinpoint.
