Seriously? You can in recent times build up a finishing pet name?

Now ive seen this alot in people asking question and i think this is pretty funny. And how does the government keep track of these made up name? Do people do that often?

So is this just within America?

Cause we cannot do that in Canada.

Im curious. :D
That's so unnatural. Why would you want your child's last name different than yours? Outcast from the family much?
Yes, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. Names are really pretty arbitrary anyway. You can use the mom's identify, you can use the dad's name, you can hyphenate, etc etc. You can change your name if you similar to. So why not just make up a last baptize like you're making up a first and middle name? I'm sure it's not common, though. And, are you sure you can't do that contained by Canada? Wouldn't that be against your personal rights not to be able to have whatever given name you like?
Yep you can surrounded by America.
You can offer your child any last name you want. The vast majority of race give kids the name of the mother, father, or a combo of both, but you can pick an unrelated name.
Apparently you can I believe. My grandfather added a few letters to our closing name 30 years ago lmao. Don't know if that's the same thing?
Yes. My best friend and all of her brothers and sisters we're adopt. One of them was bitter and didn't want her biological name or adoptive name so she made one up.
Answers:    Yes, in the US you can. Here is an article of interest:

Yep. The government tracks us by social-security number, not by name.
I have also noticed seriously of people asking for names on babyfreefaq.com. but they are usually writing books and just looking for name for their characters. I dont think you can just change your term unless you take it to court and go through a whole mess of an ordeal.
I know! I've read question where people say that too. In Australia you can't do that lol.

:P
I'd never want to use a made up finishing name because it has no significance to the family you're connected beside. How would you trace your Heritage? I just don't like that thought.
Huh? I don't take in your question? You mean have a different later name than what is the parent's last name? Yes, your little one can.

My son has the last name Hutchisson and I enjoy the last name Nelson. But this is because when I get married it'll be easier .
