? just about Newborn Babies? Do you sterilize the baby's bottle nipples? Do you mix powdered formula near slap hose?
My brother & his wife just had a baby ending month. My sister, mother & I were all over there yesterday & we notice a few things, but times have changed & it's been awhile since the 3 of us have have kids. Like my mother was saying how she used to let us sleep on our stomach & immediately they say to have babies sleep on their side or back & afterwards SIDS (Infant Death Syndrome) came around.
But we noticed that they never sterilize the nipples for the baby's bottles & they just hose the nipples & bottles with tap water. My sister also saw our sister surrounded by law's Dad mix powdered baby formula with tap hose down. So we were wondering if things have changed & Pediatricians are telling parents they no longer enjoy to sterilize baby bottle nipples or use boiled or purified water to mix powdered baby formula? If you don't, would nearby be any consequences? If you are supposed to, when is it okay to stop sterilizing or boiling water?
We didn't want to question our brother's wife or our brother because they might get preventative & as new parents we don't want to upset them if there is no reason to.
I asked the same sound out when my daughter was born. Yes you do have to still sterilize the bottles and teats and I did this up until she started drinking out of a cup - approx 1 year (differs for peoples).
I always used boiled hose down for her formula.
Maybe buy them a book on newborns as a pressie if its a touchy subject...?
Well my youngest is 3 and I used to other steralized the baby bottles and nipples when I bought them before I let my son use them but I believe you one and only have to do it when they are new.
I did use tap marine but boiled the water a little to warm it.
But yes things enjoy changed a lot since I had my oldest which is 12.
We only sterilized my sons after they were purchased. Other then that they are fine near a good cleaning with soap and water.
Tap river is just as good for formula. It depends on where you live. Here surrounded by NY we have some of the cleanest water so we really don't have to boil it or anything but we do use a Brita Pitcher for his hose.
My son is a month old and I sterilize his nipples, the playtex bottles, measuring cup and the whisk to mix his formula. I also uses hit water, but I boil it to make formula and to give him plain marine.
However, sometimes I'll give him a nipple or two that was washed within the sink.
Answers: When i have my son his DR said u could use tap water as long as it was city hose down, but now with my daughter they said to use boiled or bottled water. So,i deem even the Dr's go back and forth on it. As for the bottle nipples i sterilize after every use and so does my sis with her kids. That is what i be told to do.My sisters son got a bad case of trush from not sterilizing my nephew's bottle nip, but i don't contemplate anything worse than that can happen as long as they do wash them good.
