Do you double Cloth diapers? repost?

I am going to try this again.
Like back in the old conservatory days cloth diapers were doubled..I bought the pack at walmart that has the padding within the middle...Do i use two at a time or just one..Do i put a liner over them..can i use the Dreft detergent ( pink and white bottle) that ped recommends to wash them resembling i do her clothes and blankets?
During the year only use single diaper. I would use double diapers at night. but only after they be about 6 months old, and were drinking more.

The diaper liner, I single used when my kids got to be about 3 months old, and it be usually used when I knew they should have a bowl movement soon.

I soon got tired of using them adjectives together.

The liner goes inside the diaper next to the baby's skin.

Dreft is perfect to use. Rubber pant go on after the diaper to keep babys clothes dry. They aren't really made of rubber, more like plastic, and are washable.

You enjoy pre-folded diapers. Source(s): I used Dreft and or Ivory Snow for all of my children, But I didn't use fabric softener. Can cause imprudent. Baby Dr. said not to use. Mother of three and Grandmother of 6.
I would start by using one to save on washing and if it seem to not be thick enough for what the baby is releasing later start doubling up on them.
Yes use the liners to protect the baby's clothes from getting wet or pooed on.
And yes I would use the Dreft detergent over the rest because that is one the most sensitive spots on her skin!
For my newborn I use gain and she seem to be reacting fine to regular detergent, but for private areas I would play it extra safe with the better detergent for her.
Out of curiousity how much and how comfortable are those diapers to use? I was thinking of using cloth diapers when I am at home with my daughter and disposibles when we go out or pinch her to the babysitters to try and save money because I am up to spending 20 bucks on diapers a week which adds up fast! :)
Answers:    You can use a liner with clothe diapers to help with leak. Although, you should consider using a cover to help. I've found wool covers - Stacinator is a great brand...pricey but well worth it - to be the best. They are soft, moveable, breathable, and absorb slightly a bit. They cannot be laundered, though. Just rinsed periodically, or washed with a lanolin soap and rinsed ably. Line drying is the only option for wool covers. Due to this, you'll need to own two covers. Other covers are available, but none, in my experience are as good as wool covers.

Laundering your clothe diapers doesn't have to be difficult. However, DO NOT use Dreft, Ivory Snow or any other "soap" - solely detergent, and only 1/2 the amount you would use for a load of regular clothing. Over time "soaps" will deteriorate the fabric. Bleaches also call for to be avoided. You can use white vinegar in the rinse cycle (a Downy ball with white vinegar is unfaultable as it opens in the rinse cycle) to kill yeast spores and deoderize. A cup of baking soda is recommended, too. And, NEVER use textile softeners. The chemicals build up on the diapers and effect the absorbancy.

Line drying in the sun at least once a week is a good concept. The UV in the sun further kills yeast spores and the natural bleaching effects of the sun can get rid of stains.

My washing routine is as follows:
"Clean wash" - gentle cycle with no detergent, vinegar or baking soda contained by cold water to help loosen fabrics and present a good soak".
"Detergent wash" - 1/2 amount of detergent used for a load of normal clothing, 1 "Downy" bubble of white vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda in cold water on gentle cycle.
"Extra Spin" - I usually bequeath each load of diapers an extra spin cycle to further whisk away moisture and reduce drying time.
"Dry" - I will any sun dry and toss in my drier on low head for 10 minutes to loosen fabric. Or, toss contained by the drier on low heat until dry.

I hope that helps. If you need more assist, let me know! I've clothe diaper three children.
I saw this press earlier, but was confused. Are you talking nearly prefolds? If so:

Prefolds 101: Understanding The Differences
by Cathy Cagle, Diaper Diva
Baby Belle Bottoms

Prefold diapers can be the simplest kinds of diaper to use - and one of the most confusing kinds of diaper to fully understand. Prefolds are rectangular diapers that own more layers in the middle and fewer layer on the sides. Prefolds are wonderful diapers: versatile, absorbent, long lasting, multi-use, and extremely affordable.

The precursor to Prefold diapers are Flat diapers. Flat diapers do not have a thicker center section but rather own the same thickness and number of layers throughout the entire diaper. Flats are the lowest inexpensive type of diaper available. Prefolds are generally preferred over Flats because Prefolds have more absorbency and fabric compactness (crucial to stopping powerful urine streams) right where you need it - in the middle.

Prefolds come contained by different varieties, fabrics, sizes, and weights. Most prefolds will have a 4x8x4 sort of permit - the first and last numbers tell you how many layer of fabric there are on the right and left sides of the diaper and the middle number tell you how many layers of cloth in the middle. Different talent of diapers will have different number of layers. The quality of your diaper will generate a huge difference in how well your diapers work, how long they last, and how glad you are with a cloth diaper system.

4x8x4 are the Cadillac of prefolds. 4x6x4 Prefolds also work very well, in particular when enhanced with a doubler. Prefolds with fewer layer are less bulky, dry more quickly, and are cooler in heat up weather. Be forewarned that babies with a strong urine stream or large urine output may be able to blast straight through a 4x6x4 since the fabric has a chance to occupy and stop the flow.

Prefolds come in bleached (white) and unbleached (natural) options. Both work very okay though the unbleached versions last longer because the fiber has not be chemically weakened by bleach.

Organic fabrics or regular, non-organic fabrics are another widely available Prefold remedy. Organic Prefolds are significantly more expensive than non-organic Prefolds but for many people the organic benefits outweigh the cost difference.

CPF stands for Chinese Prefolds - significance prefold diapers made in China and exported. DSQ means Diaper Service Quality. Any diaper can be called a DSQ - here is no minimum absorbency or thickness requirement to get that classification. Are you curious as to how your diapers compare to your local diaper service? Call a diaper service and ask them how many layer their diapers have - you may be surprised by the answer.

Prefolds come in many different fabric and weaves. The most common kind of standard diaper is 100% woven cotton. Quality 100% cotton diapers can be expected to serve the needs of several children and evolve into favorite cleaning cloths and rags. People tell stories nearly quality cotton diapers remaining useful (mostly as cleaning clothes) 20 years later. Lesser characteristic cotton diapers can have polyester foam or rayon center inserts. These inserts tend to break down quickly, add little or zilch to the diaper absorbency, and should be avoided if you have a choice.

Hemp Prefolds are becoming much more popular and widely available. Hemp Prefolds can be found in several different varieties: Prefolds made from knit hemp fleece, Prefolds made from woven hemp jersey, and Prefolds made from woven hemp muslin. All hemp Prefolds are in reality a blend of hemp and cotton, usually 55% cotton and 45% hemp. Hemp is more durable and more absorbent than cotton, plus hemp has a natural resistance to mold and mildew. Hemp Prefolds also embezzle longer to dry and are more expensive than cotton.

Some of the other varieties of Prefolds include Birdseye Cotton, Indian Cotton, Terry/Flannel Cotton, and Gauze Cotton. Each of these kinds of Prefolds has its individual strengths and may be the best Prefold for you.

Woven fabrics hold up much better to the stresses of pinning or using a Snappi to secure your diaper than do knit fabrics. Knit fabric can develop holes and runs from pins or Snappi use. Knit fabrics are stretchier and can stretch around baby to form a very nice diaper when secured by pins or a Snappi. Make sure to ask how respectively kind of Prefold holds up to a Snappi or pins before making a buying decision. Certain fabric, like terry, may seem ideal to back hold a Snappi securely in place but in truth may not offer enough access to the fabric weave.

Confused? The best instrument place to start is by comparing actual Prefold measurements: length, width, weight, and number of side and center layers. Less expensive diapers can be up to 1 1/2 " shorter surrounded by length and almost an ounce lighter in weight than higher feature diapers. Comparing statistics can help you better understand the strengths and weaknesses that different choices of Source(s): http://www.diaperpin.com/clothdiapers/ar…
I use cloth diapers on my son. The difference is that I use a diaper service instead of wash them myself, so I have no advice on that except what I remember from when my aunt used cloth on her kids:

* Soak the diapers in the diaper pallid in a bleach/water mixture.
* Wash a couple of times and add vinegar to the wash as powerfully (google that one on when to add the vinegar)
*Dry on a clothes line in the sun (it will carry rid of the stains)

As for the actual diapering, I use diaper covers (http://www.thirstiesstore.com) and I do not double the diapers up, not even at nighttime. But, it all depends on how much your baby wets...I guess mine isn't a strapping wetter yet :)
