Safe for newborn to sleep adjectives darkness within bottom of Pack n'Play?

I purchased the Eddie Bauer Soothe and Sway Pack N'Play with the bassinet attachment that I was planning on having my newborn sleep contained by. Last week I found out the bassinet feature has been recall.
So now I am wondering, can I put my baby to sleep overnight in the bottom fragment of the Pack n'Play? Should I use one of those close and secure sleepers to put him in and then place contained by the Pack N'Play? Where did you place your baby to sleep?
Suggestions from non-first time moms would be appreciated
I'd make Eddie Bauer replace it or take it pay for to the store. If just the bassinet part was recall, I think it would be ok. But if you're not sure what part was recall, don't let her sleep in it.
Yes it is safe. Just keep an eye out for recalls, I catch sight of there seem to be a lot of recall on pack n plays.

Also practice safe sleeping methods the same way you would contained by a crib.

No heavy blankets, pillows toys and animals.
Answers:    We go on vacations twice a year and my babies hold all slept in them. Plus at home when we are down stairs they will take their nap in the Pack N'Play. Its safe, but the only article I would suggest is to pad it a little better, they are a bit harder than a crib mattress. And buy the Pack N'Play sheets so you can clean up any messes that might start.
