Does my babe-in-arms own diarrhea, or is this regular?

9 day old baby girl who breastfeeds, and when she poops it comes out similar to a liquid stream of peanut butter colored liquid. It is VERY liquidy. According to sources I have found online her poop at this age should be loose, mustard ashen and seedy. I am concerned because when does "loose" become diarrhea. This poop is literally liquid and squirts out in a spray at times.
As gross as this sounds, the texture should look resembling toothpaste. If it doesnt, and you feel its runnier, it wouldn't hurt taking a trip to the doctors. Babies can easily get feeling thirst, so best to be safe Source(s): Thumbs down? Why not ring nurse on call and ask what babies poop should look like. I guarantee they will read aloud toothpaste
When my 2 yr old girl was first born she had alot of "poop" problems and my pediatrician told me that it's more more or less Frequency than anything, her poop will be many different textures and colors, but you should be alarmed when she is having alot of bowel movements that are extremely loose because she can take dehydrated quick being so small.. Just hold on to an eye on her and if she does it alot then take her to the DR. Good luck.
Answers:    If you breastfeed, your babe-in-arms will have mustardy-yellow poo that smells quite sweet, a bit like apricots, and hold a highly variable consistency, sometimes looking like curdy scrambled eggs, sometimes looking rough. Very watery nappies in breastfed babies might look like diarrhoea to the untrained eye but are in actuality perfectly normal.

Try not to get hung up on your little one having 'regular' bowel movements. Generally speaking, if your baby's happy and acting normally, he's going to the toilet the right number of times. This might parsimonious explosive bowel movements every 15 minutes, or no poo for over a week (beware when it finally comes!).
SSSOOOOOO NORMAL !! My son is 6 weeks his shoots out and is very liquid. Dr says it's normal. I have be concerned because he went from all day poopin to one big teem up and then just little spots in between, majority. They are at the age they may have one daily. Trust me, it[s ok. Your baby is right on track.
baby poo is pretty disgusting, isn't it lol

I ponder she sounds fine. If you are worried, speak to your doctor. But it all sounds familiar to me.
congratulations on your baby girl !
All sounds pretty normal to me !! I remember when our son was greatly young he would often do what we termed "pumpkin soup poo"..it would basically stream out everywhere !! everywh..ere.often I had to duck for cover..

This wont last long..dawdle till she starts solids !! phewwwwwwwyyy!! you will be yearning for the good old days of peanut butter poo !!
Breastfed babies have much looser stools than formula feed babies, especially for about the 1st 3 months. After that, they do tend to firm up. My son's was always loose but looked kinda squalid like you were describing. He never sprayed like diarrhea. You may want to nick a trip to your pediatrician's office to check. You don't want her to become dehydrated.
this sounds normal!
