Would you tolerate your dog lick your babies frontage?
Sammys 6 months old and he likes to crawl after my dog and he's gotten really interested in her, which she returns that interest by constantly licking his obverse! It seems unsanitary to me! Should I be nipping this in the butt?!
i wouldn't let the dog lick his too much (im sure you aren't) but a little bit doesn't issue. dogs mouths are cleaner then ours by a long shot.
I don't like it, my daughter is 6 months old and she love the dog and laughs when he lick her, but I try not to let him lick her in the face. I go to a baby class and the lady said that licking could mean he think he is dominant and will try to control them. I just personally don't like mortal licked in the face, so I don't agree to him do it to her. I let him sniff but if he licks I just say aloud stop and he stops. It's up to you, they say dogs mouths are cleaner than ours, but I don't lick my butthole and I wouldn't lick my daughter's face.
Well, I wouldn't fire up it, but it's going to happen if dog and child are in the same place.
Really, he'll probably return with worse germs by touching a doornob and then putting his fingers in his mouth.
yea i dont infer i would let my dog lick my babies face. I mean i kno its the solely way the dog can really show love but my baby brother got newborn acne from that. So since babies usually have sensitive skin i would refrain from letting that happen until little sammy is somewhat older
I figure they are going to get puppy kisses when they return with older so why not let it happen in a minute? Our chow and golden are always giving our son kisses.
Dogs actually own antbodies in their mouths and generally have cleaner mouths than most humans do. i don't tolerate the dogs overly lick my son but he's 2 now and he tries to get the dogs to lick him on purpose
a dogs kiss is less harmfull to the baby than yours are
Ummm..guilty! My baby is totally crazy over the doggie, and doggie reciprocate with many enthused "kisses" to the babe. I try to stop it, but it happens! I don't worry too much...the dog is clean.
When my son was a newborn, of course I didn't. But presently, he's 7 months old and laughs hysterically when Pepper, our pug, licks him in the obverse. So, I allow it on occasion, when I am supervising, but I wouldn't let him do it all hours of daylight long or if the baby didn't like it.
i would not. i have 2 dogs and they know not to lick baby. i am very close to dogs, i grew up surrounded by them, but i do not have a feeling good letting them lick my baby anywhere.
There really is nothing you can do to prevent it. You can try to instruct the dog boundaries. Our dogs know they can go up to my son and lick him once or twice but they are not allowed to slobber him all over (they would if given the hit and miss!)
It is a myth that has been disproved that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a humans. I think it be mythbusters but I'm not sure. Their mouths are far filthier than ours.
I'll never forget the day I saw my son put a goldfish cracker up to our big dogs mouth to lick it then my son ate it! Disgusting. Also, if your son is a typical boy, he will be fascinated by the dog's teeth. I dunno what it is but boys just love to touch dogs teeth. Yuck.
omg my MIL's dogs do this too, I hate it those dogs lick their buts! and they roll around in filth, I never tolerate the dogs do it, it just freaks me out!
As long as the baby doesn't mind it. Dog's mouths are actually cleaner than ours are!
umm its okay that the dog licks her face i miserable if she doesnt mind just clean her face after but when she lick doggys face umm yeahh thats bad@_@
Answers: "It's not feasible that your dog will pass on any illnesses to you through its saliva. Many of the bacteria in your dog's saliva is specific to canines, and won't impair you. However, it's a good idea to discourage licking to reduce any likelihood of becoming sick from germs. Here are some myths about dog saliva and their associated facts.
Myths About Dog Saliva:
Because dog saliva contains a special enzyme which promotes healing of the dog's wound, some pet owners think it will enjoy the same effect on their own cuts. The enzymes in your dogs saliva only work on the wounds of dogs. Allowing your dog to lick your cuts could head to infection from any germs the dog may have in its mouth.
Facts About Dog Saliva
One potential health risk associated next to being licked by your dog is the transmission of roundworms. These intestinal fleas are commonly found in kittens and puppies and are passed through licking. Symptoms of roundworm are coughing, a fever and headaches. Of course if your dog have been given deworming medication, and is tested on a regular basis, your risk of contracting roundworm is slim. Leptospirosis, salmonella and E. coli are other illnesses that can be transmitted by your dog's saliva; contracting rabies from the bite of a rabid dog is also possible."
Personally I think that, yes, you should nip this is the BUD. It is too contaminated and unsafe for such a young child. Source(s): http://www.vetinfo.com/myths-facts-dog-s…
Lady licks my daughters feet adjectives the time! [I clean them off right after since I have no clue what she get into in the yard!] but yea my dogs been licking her foot since she was 2 weeks old
My dog licks my son's face. If you have a dog it really can't be avoided.
I think it's okay lately don't let the doggie do it to much
i can't stand when my dog licks my obverse... so he doesn't get to lick my sons. Also, I don't know what he's gotten into outside, so I'd rather be safe than sorry and nip it within the bud.
I don't reckon so
My son is 16 months antiquated and walks up to one of my dogs with an open mouth waiting for kisses! it's gross but oh powerfully, he also puts rocks covered in dirt in his mouth before I can fence in him and fish them out.
Ah, your tot will be fine!
