Has anybody manage a 1200 calorie diet whilst breast feed?
I have been having 1200 calories for 1 week and hold lost 5lbs but I'm feeling exhausted and drained. My baby is 8 months old and is still feed with me 3 times a day. He also gets 3 bottles of formula plus his solids. I am concerned my milk will completely dry up.
if you insist on breast feeding at this age then wait on the diet until your child is 1 and geared up to be on cow's milk
if you insist on dieting now then stop breastfeeding it's only doing you spoil and doing very little for your baby
While nursing, you should not consume less than 1500-1800 calories per daytime, and most women should stay at the high end of this range. Some mothers will require much more than this, but studies show that going below this number may put supply at risk.
The common sense why you feel drained is because your body will take all of your nutrients to supply it for the child.
Answers: You should absolutely not diet while you are breastfeeding. It is not good for you or the baby.
