How much formula is too much?
my baby is 1 week and 3 days old. she has moderately a large appetite. shes having 100ml/4 oz of formula every 3-4 hours. shes a big girl she weighs 4.4kg/10 pounds. today i notice she seems to want more than what im giving her. after finishing the 100ml and burping well she still wants to suck.
so my ask is should i increase her feed and let her guide me as to how much to feed her or is she wanting too much?
that seems like an awful lot. I'm not into pacifiers and are not fan but bottle fed babies tend to need them more. have you tried offering one. she might only just want to suck
Our nurse told use that a newborns stomach can solely hold 1 to 2 ounces of milk. She said this is one reason why formula fed babies are usually heavier than breastfed. Congratulations on the baby. Ours is immediately 7 weeks old. They are so much fun. But they are also expensive. Answers: A drop of formula is too much. You should be breastfeeding for the sake of your baby's robustness and your own.
But in any case, if she's hungry, let her put away. Just be sure that she's not eating it just because you're offering it.
Try putting 4 1/2 oz, if she finishes the bottle, she may be hungry still. If there is some left over, she is full.
She may of late want something to suck on also. You can try using a pacifier.
She will stop eating when she is full, so there is no too much. Some babies eat more than others!
Congrats :)
At this age, I don't think it would be too much. If she is rooting around still looking for something I would let her eat. What my husband and I did be after our daughter ate what she usually ate, if she still seemed hungry, make only 1 oz to a time after that. Sometimes that extra 1 oz puts them to sleep and they are happy, but then you haven't made a whole bottle only for her to devour only 1 oz. If you are concerned talk to your doctor.
Hope this helps! Source(s): mommy to 13 month out-of-date and a 1 month old.
i would give her a pacifier after the bottle , if she spits it out and crys then she is still hungry , If she keeps sucking consequently its more likely that she just wants to comfort suck .
Its not true when ppl vote babies dont over eat .. my son does and has since he was born .
he will sit contained by his high chair all daytime and eat EVERYTHING .
only to throw it all rear legs up , and then want to eat again ,
I would increase it to conceivably 4/1/2, to 5 ounces and see how that goes, if she doesn't finish it all, then that funds she doesn't need more, and just may wanna suck on something, lol babies love doing that, so u could give her a pacifier or something else to suck on and that should aid.
:D.
If she is hungry let her munch through. NEWBORNS wont over eat they will eat until they are full and then show disinterest contained by the bottle by turning away from the bottle and/or pushing it out with their tongue
A drop of formula is too much? Gosh, I can not beleive a grown adult would type that, and consider it is a viable argument.
You don't like formula. Breast milk is magical, formula is poison. We get it.Have a medal for your formula bash.
Honestly, if it was my son, I would give her the 100 mls, burp her, and if she's hungry, I'd give her for a moment more.
Some babies just eat more than others.
I would increase it, just make sure she doesn't throw up after she does it, if she does, she just wants to suck
