Proper diet and exercise is the best way to control your bulk. Be sure that you are taking plenty of fluids to help maintain your milk supply.

its a good hypothesis to eat after 6pm because your baby is getting older and moves around more and he will want more milk than usual
I think it would depend on how long it is that you are going after 6 with no food. you didn't say when you shift to bed or when you have breakfast. you need to eat to hold your energy up to keep your supply up.
your milk supply may be less if your babe has started solids or is also drinking anything other than your breastmilk.
