Pediatricians - what does your doctor voice?
Also water...
Water: Believes that babies should never have plain water until they are close to one year old because they obligation the nutrients that they get from formula or breastmilk and that formula or breastmilk have all the fluids that a kid needs, so water is not neccessary or recomended until one year old.
Waking up to eat/sleeping through feedings: When 2 of my babies have jaundice I was told not to let them go more than 3 hours in need feeding them for the first 6 weeks. After that it was fine to let them sleep.
Feeding schedule: Told to feed on demand
Juice: She is highly against juice--even for elder children. She believes it is empty calories, and that eating fruit is alot more nutritious than a cup of juice is. She is significantly against it, saying it leads to obesity... although I chose to endow with all my kids juice anyways.
Circumcision: She told me the pros and cons of each one and consent to me deside. I chose to circumcize my son to reduce the risk of infection, make it easier to clean, and so he would not call for it done when he was older. They did make me keep under surveillance a movie of a circumcision so I would know what it was like. The movie had an anti-circumcision point of belief, but I still chose to do it because that is what I believed was best for my son.
Vaccinations: She is very pro-vaccinating. They are indispensable to keep our children healthy and so there are not outbreaks of diseases that used to be stony.
Cry It Out: Very against this. Soothing and comforting a baby when they cry is neccesary to develop proper attachments. The baby needs to know that you are nearby for them when they need you, that you will help them when they need you, not only leave them there crying.
Co-Sleeping: Personal Choice
Bathing: Every other day as infant... when elder still recomends every other day because she says bathing every day removes the automatic conditioners that the skin makes.
Fever: Call when over 102.5 and does not respond to Tylenol or Motrin after a few hours.
Baby Medications: Tylenol and Motrin are both fine... actually recomends alternating between the 2 of them every 3 hours for high fever.
Solids before six months: Says all children are different and some need to munch through before the 4-6 months that is recomended. All mine at before that per doctors counsel.
I have a four month old, Corrected age is 2 months (she be 2 months preeemie).
Waking up to eat / sleeping through feedings. recommended feed on demand. I adopt the EASY routine (Tracy Hobbs) and it is phenominal and my baby thrives on it. I wake her if necessary every 3 hours during the time and she goes 6-8 hours through the night.
Feeding schedules, ie - every 3 hours to devour. See above.
Solids before six months - Recommended starting at about 5 months slowly introduce rice cereal. Watch for negative reaction from baby.
Juice - Do not give before a year of age. After that donate sparingly.
Circumcision - N/A
Vaccinations - Yes recommended. We have started them.
Cry it out - Doesn't recommend at the age my daughter is at. I do not let her cry it out.
Co Sleep - Does not recommend Co sleeping. My daugher slept in her crib from Day 1.
Bathing - ie - one hip bath every other day? one a week? - recommends every other day or so. We do every time for the sake of a bedtime routine.
Fever - when to call when not to call . Call whenthe fever is over 37.5 C.
Baby medications-- approaching infant tylenol or motrin . Recommended Tylenol to give before vaccines and for fever. I haven't needed to use it that much even so. Source(s): Pediatrician and Family Doctor.
Waking up to eat / sleeping through feedings -> Said that the little one will eat when the baby is hungry
Feeding schedules, ie - every 3 hours to drink. -> Same as above
Solids before six months -> said to start them as soon as baby wanted too... We wait until she was around 4 months for cereal, but i'll definitely wait longer for subsequent baby.
Juice -> after 1 year, because it is useless. We started at around 10 months or so giving her juice... little bit of juice, mostly wet.
Circumcision -> had a girl, but for us that is decided at the hospital, we own a different pedi. Our boys will not be circumcised.
Vaccinations -> Our Pedi is all for ALL vaccinations. I have give my daughter the necessary ones, and have said no way to a few of them
Cry it out -> honestly, i dont remember what he said give or take a few this! We never did CIO.
Co Sleep -> He said NO WAY! Our daughter coslept for a year.
Bathing - ie - one bath every other day? one a week? -> He just said when she needed one to administer her one. When she was much smaller, she got one every day. She's 2 presently, and gets one every other day usually.
Fever - when to call when not to christen -> He never mentioned anything about this either, interesting. She's had single 1 fever that was minor.
Baby medications-- like infant tylenol or motrin -> Pushed this for whenever she be feeling sick. She's only had it once or twice. I'm not big on over the counter stuff.
Water -> pushed floride river... Our daughter just had filtered dampen, and she's been fine so far.
I disregard some of what he said, because I go with my gut instinct and what i've researched.
