What can I buy for a newborn toddler (we dont know the sexual characteristics yet) ?
I want to make sure that my sister has enough to tide her over for the newborn so I have been buying plain jumpsuits, bibs, toys, blankets, pram, corner protectors what other things can I buy that are unisex because everything seems a bit plain you know?

We bought everything within neutral also. We have neutral onsies, pant, and sleepers and once the baby was born we bought some additional clothing within pink- since she was a girl- that we can mix and match with the nonpartisan clothing.
The biggest thing she'll need are diapers and wipes. Additionally nonpartisan items- car seat, bath tub, towels, washcloths, acceptance blankets, crib, rocker, bedding, baby soaps/shampoo, hygiene items (clippers, comb, baby thermometer), bottles Source(s): mother of 5wk girl
Baby Hooded Towels; Something nice for the Baby's room; a musical mobile; vests long sleeved and short sleeved; diapers are other welcome; but remember babies grow very quickly so opt to buy 3-6 months and 6-12 months contained by clothing for now.
I'd say diapers. She will take tons of clothing from everyone else. That is what people love to buy. My daughter is 2 weeks old and I have lately opened my third pack of newborn diapers (we also had a few left from our son, some sample, and some from the hospital). I would buy her 2-3 packs of newborn, 4-5 of size 1, then as many as you want of the rest. My son be in the other sizes for a few months at a time so I know he probably used 10 packs or so. I usually buy the boxes though and they come with two pack a piece in them. You can also buy her things like bottles, formula, ice pack, wipes, creams, bath stuff. hi when i was expecting for 2 of my children, once sour m-in-law and once off sister they gave me a basket full of the silly little things , bubble hip bath,shampoo,baby oil,cotton wool , baby wipe nappy sack,ETC, it came in handy for weeks,
what about sleeping pack, changing mat, thermometer is a good buy, id be lost in need mine, hope this help just a few ideas,
Basically the first answer sums it all. Crib, Milk Powder, Basic toys, Diapers, Strollers, Bottles, Baby wipes, Digital Thermometer, Safety Equipment (From electricity sockets and what not), etc.
Btw how can you not know the gender if its already out?

Diapers (in a variety of sizes - it's astonishing how quickly they move through those little diapers!), wipes (because OMG, do you walk through wipes!) & diaper cream, a diaper pail, a little caddy/storage piece to hold diapers, wipes, cream, etc.
Toys - bright, plastic toys the LO can play with and hold and look at (key rings, rattles, teething toys, etc.), a stuffed cuddly toy bear for when s/he is bigger - a play mat/floor gym, etc.
A car seat.
If you're buying clothing/onesies - again, a range of sizes - they grow out of stuff sooooooo fast, it makes my head spin!
Bath towels (the hooded ones!), purify cloths, baby shampoo, baby lotion (the bedtime stuff is just awesome!)...

a sling (make her one its so easy and she will love it, you need a strong 100% COTTON fabric if its 45" broad you can just cut it lengthwise and sew the two long sides and one short side then get two rings from the frabric store and sew the end short side folded over the two rings. washable and disposable waterproof pad
cotton hand mits (not to keep her warm buut to save from scratching face.)
