What exactly is BPA contained by newborn food?

Is it harmful? My baby is 4.5 months old. (I DONT WANT TO HEAR HES TOO YOUNG) Should I buy the newborn food with BPA or The bpa free? I dont know the difference. What is it?
Answers:    BPA is a substance found in clear, rigid plastic. It is released into food with giant temperatures. There is currently no evidence that it is released into food unless the temperature is above 175 F which is WAY hotter than you would ever heat babe bottles. My suggestion is to heat the baby's food or formula or breastmilk in a pyrex measuring cup and once it is the correct warmth, then place in bottle.

BPA does break down (as do all plastics) near regular heating, so wash your bottles in the sink near dishsoap and a brush. They should be fine.

Your bottled water likely has BPA if you store it within the car since temperatures in a closed saloon can exceed 175 F. In fact, some weathermen just proved that they could cook cookies on the dashboard in CA (pointing out how noxious it is to leave pets in the car for any amount of time, even if the windowpane is open).
BPA is a chemical used in plastics, it isn't in the food. When you see BPA-Free, they're referring to the container it's in. Here's some information on BPA.
Go ahead and procure the BPA-free stuff if you like. Pretty soon everything will be BPA free anyway since most companies are doing voluntary recalls. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A
