What did you do for your first wedding ceremony anniversary?
I know this isn't really a baby question, but I'm usually in this forum, and I trust you ladies more, so for adjectives of you that are married.
Our anniversary is coming up, and I need some ideas!!
Did you exchange gifts or do something special?
Last year we had planned on doing our honeymoon respectively year on our anniversary or some other trip, but I'm 9 months pregnant and ready to pop any day, so we really need to stay surrounded by town.
omg we planned them same thing, but we get pregnant on our honeymoon! We were planning on back to Jamaica but with a 2 month mature, that is not going to happen.
Our 1 years on august 8 and the hubs is taking me to a really nice restaurant, I don't know where we are going because I considered necessary a surprise. We are not doing gifts or eating the top of our cake, we ate that after the honeymoon. it was too yummy to freeze for a year.
Maybe next year we will shift on a trip, but this year we are just going to dinner.
We were traveling home for Christmas. Our anniversary is on December 18th and for our first we be stationed in NC whereas our families are in Iowa. So we didn't do anything really "special" for our first! I assume we exchanged cards and he got me some flowers but that was it. This year will be our fifth, though, and I'm hoping we can do something special for it.
Anyway, is there a bed and breakfast contained by your town? Maybe you could stay there for the weekend. There's also the classic dinner and a movie. Or you could just celebrate at home(make a romantic dinner and munch through it by candlelight, then snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie together).
Our anniversary is in December, but since we live in SC it wasn't too cold. Probably 60's, so we took a leave to the coast and had a nice little getaway. Yes we exchanged gifts and have some much needed R&R. On our second anniversary was when our daughter be conceived ;)
Since we got pregnant the week of our wedding, our son be a couple months old for our first wedding anniversary.
I left him (reluctantly) beside a friend for a couple hours while we went out to mini golf and eat lunch.
Valentines Day was if truth be told two days before my due-date, so we celebrated a month early by taking a long drive and doing a picnic. On actual Valentines Day, we just cuddled at home.
We exchanged gifts. Since it was broadsheet I bought my husband a GI Joe Poster. We watched a GI Joe movie on our first official date. Then we went camp for the weekend...he left me an extra gift over that trip...I ended up getting pregnant more or less the time we were camping...
We are a really down to earth couple. If we need something we purely buy it. We don't wait around for holidays and worry about gifts. We turn out to dinner on our anniversary and that's about all that makes it different from a conventional day.
Maybe I'm just strange but I see no reason for my husband to buy me flowers and chocolates and jewelry on holidays. I seize frustrated when there is too much "stuff" in the house. The best gift my husband could bequeath me would be to just do simple things like fill my gas cistern, sweep the patio, etc.
My husband and I both try to go and get away from the "traditional" romantic stuff, because most of the time you feel like you are doing it because it's what you're supposed to do.
We took a weekend trip to a town about 3 hours away...a moment ago the 2 of us. We went to an aquarium, went bowling, spent lots of time in our fancy hotel =) (which be a wonderful splurge that was well worth it), and tried new food at latest resturants. It was a blast.
Sadly, I was newly pregnant and sick for our 2nd anniversary, but we still spent the hours of daylight together...watching movies in bed and playing playstation. It doesn't get anymore "real life" than that...lol. But my honey suprised me near a pre-budgeted babymoon in a couple of months (so he has been thinking of it for a while). I'm SOOO excited give or take a few it! He couldn't have done anything sweeter.
I was pregnant the 1st anniversary and had morning sickness so bad I never get out of bed. This year though we wrote each other a letter about things that happen and how grateful we were to have each other..etc. We afterwards went and had a get-a-way- weekend.
Answers: It is weird...it is strangely hard to remember what we did. But, I think we go to the Melting Pot and went and saw The Departed (romantic movie huh?) I think the label "First Wedding Anniversary," is intimidating. It does not enjoy to be anything fancy...just spending time together doing something you both enjoy.
Good luck, wish you heaps more happy & healthy years together.
God,is it sad that I don't really remember? Well. I am not 100% sure, but I believe we go out for dinner, and just spent some time together. You don't have to go adjectives big and crazy. But just doing something together, whatever that may be to celebrate.
