How do you know when your child have reflux?

this might be a stupid question. im pretty sure my baby doesn't have it but im merely curious.
Gripe Water. Just net sure it's alcohol free.
There are symptoms to look for and your doctor will most likely diagnose it. Some of the symptoms are excessive spitting up, throwing up, screaming during feedings, and arching of the posterior during feedings. My son was diagnosed with reflux at 2 months old. He is immediately 8 months old and we have just weaned him from him medication.
Answers:    My son had silent reflux ... I never noticed spitting up (as he'd spit it up, and swallow it) ... but he did gag a lot and did give the impression of being fussy after eating ... he'd cry, arch his back etc ... Most of the time you'll see the spit up. That's normal if they don't appear bothered by it. It's called a "Happy Spitter" ... but if you notice spit up and unhappiness that's an "Unhappy Spitter" and they can do things for it - most normally Zantac or thickening feeds.

My son is 7.5 months old and we no longer hand over him Zantac ... but it did help in the beginning. Source(s): *Your child would merely be uncomfortable .. sometimes with severe reflux there can be erosion of the esophagus and sometimes infallible sleeping positions are necessary - this can be true with GERD.

Most kids with despondent GER outgrow it ... but honestly, I'd think you'd break down first. My son seemed truly bothered by it.
