*Repost for more answers* (5h ago) What is your experience near Cervidil?
I was to be induced and I hadn't dilated at all so my CNM ordered Cervidil. I had it it for 12 hours near mild contractions at first that got gradually worse. Apparently, you can't have it within for longer than 12 consecutive hours. At the end of the first twelve, I had no change within cervix so I was started on Pitocin.
Hope this helps!
I wouldn't induce. You are only 39w2d. When I be 40 weeks I was not dilated or effaced AT ALL. When I hit 41 weeks I wasn't either. When I be 41.5 weeks I went into full blown labor from the starting point of no dilated or effacement. I had a long labor because of it but it went very well and I delivered vaginally. Some women go slowly and some go adjectives at once. You'll be better off waiting for your body to go into labor on it's own if possible.. it greatly lowers your arbitrariness of a c-section. Doctors like to schedule inductions. It's convenient for them and it isn't their body and their risks. If I were you I would hang about to get induced till around 42 weeks. My son was born with a skipper the size of an average 2 month old... and my doctors still encouraged me to wait it out as long as possible. I'm intensely glad that I did. My OB told me afterwards in my situation if I was hooked up to Pitocin or induced I would of had to find a c-section.
