I would have a serious talk with him. I don't come up with it's right for him to be on a chat room while he is dating you, talking to girls and giving his number out. You should be able to trust him and not think you entail to check his phone because he could be cheating. Go with your gut feeling, if you think he is, he probably is. that is very fishy. hail as the number back. if the mysterious person doesnt answer, wait until the voicemail and see whos it is. i would not trust that for one second. hopefully, he is unfolding the truth, but considering he has already lied about it, i would investigate further. he forgot his password? bull. maybe you should try to integer out the password yourself and check it. try his birthday, the last four digits of his phone number, any other numbers you may think is important. the ending 4 of his social might be it. i hope he isnt though. but it really sounds shady.
*also, if you can answer his phone when the number calls, answer but dont say anything. then whoever it is will influence "hello? are the you there" or something like that. if it is a girl, you will know. but if you answer and say hello and she hears your voice she will a moment ago hang up.
