How long can you nurture a newborn purely formula or breastmilk? Do you own to start solids by 6 months?

Formula and breastmilk are the main source of nutrition until one year matured. You don't have to begin solids at 6 months, but the longer you wait after that, the harder it will be for the little one to accept them.
No, you don't have to start solids at 6 months if you don't feel your baby is all set. Most babies will be ready sometime between 6 and 9 months. Here's some info on starting solids for the breastfed baby: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids… It looks like the recommendation are pretty much the same for formula fed babies.

Remember that solids are just for research and experimentation before they reach 1 year. Breastmilk or formula should make up the majority of their diet until after.

FORMULA OR BREASTMILK IS ALL YOUR BABY NEEDS RIGHT NOW...BABY FOOD IS JUST EXTRA
Baby is supposed to have formula or breast milk until a year older then you switch to whole milk.

I just have my 4 month appointment and my pediatrician said you can wait till 6 months instead of 4 months to start solids, but no later than 6 months.
first of all, understand that all babies are different. read adjectives these answers but you have to decide what is best for your baby.
I would recommend breastfeeding exclusively for up to a year. That worked for me and my kids. I did dispense them baby cereal and mushed fruit but it was more for fun than for feeding and that be around 8-9 months, not at 4-5 like people want you to. they were deeply healthy and neither under nor over weight for their age. I wouldn't right to be heard the same about formula, even though it is adequate breast milkk is the proper best. If you use formula that's ok but I would recommend baby cereals and fruit. Most important is your baby's signals. Does he seem to be interested in your food ? Does he seem interested when you eat ? Does he survey you eat ? Does he try to grab your food from your hand or mouth ? Does he give the impression of being hungry all the time ? These are indications that it could be time to start feeding him. Good luck !
