Answers:    Hello :o)

Hernia's are fairly common. It occurs when within is a weakening in the abdominal wall and other organs (such as intestines) are able to step thru the weakened part. It isn't very serious in a minute, but as your little boy grows and becomes an active child or teenager, it can become precarious. The surgery for correcting such a hernia is generally out-patient surgery and is done laparoscopically (with a tiny incision and not very invasive).

If it were me one-sidedly, I would have it corrected now. It may only become more complicated as he get older.

Hope this info helps! :o) Source(s): My boyfriend just have this surgery done 3 months ago.
