Help getting 14 month behind the times to sleep...?

Over the past few weeks he has become a terror at naptime and bedtime. He starts screaming and kicking and slapping. I can't get hold of him to go back to or get on a strange schedule. I don't know what to do anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Answers:    Try a warm tub..that knocks Leilani out.lol
put him in his cot and close the door, leave him he will cry and screech for awhile but will eventually fall to sleep. it may seem cruel but it works.
everytime you go to return with him out (i know it kills to have them crying) remember this is the only means of access
