How and what to nurture my 6 month ripened?!?
I started my son on Rice cereal wheh he was 5 months old, he ate wilingly for 2 days then started crying when I feed him.
So I switched to Oat cereal. He seemed to like it for about a week-10 days. Now, he is 6 months prehistoric and he closes his mouth tight shut when I give him Oat cereal. 2 days back I thought I will try Gerber Carrots (stage 1), he is kind of ok next to it, but does not open his mouth willingly. Feeding 1/4 of a jar taken 45 mts and he does not look too happy drinking!
What can I do to help him like his food? Other than this he is only on breastmilk. I nurse him 6-7 times within 24 hours. Should I reduce the number of feeds so that he will eat solids better?
Please direction! Thanks.
At 6 months your baby still wants no solids at all. They are just for fun. If he's indifferent, then stop offering. (Baby should depart his mouth for the spoon. If you have to coax or trick him, trust that he doesn't want it.)
You can try again in a few weeks, or you can wait until he shows moving interest.
You definitely do NOT want to cut back on his nursing. Even if he was thrilled beside solids, they would just be supplements to his milk. 6-7 feeds in 24 hours is fine .. or he might want more than that.
My Cousins 7 Month Old Baby's Diet :
Breakfast : 10-15oz 's Milk.
Snack : 5oz's Milk, Half Banana.
Lunch : Juice, Baby Porridge.
Snack :5oz's Milk, Rest Of The Banana.
Dinner : 15oz's+ Bottle Of Milk.
I Think This Is About Right, I Sometimes Help Out With Feeding Times !

Answers: Sounds like he's not ready for solid foods if he's A) not opening his mouth gladly and B) clearly not enjoying them.
There is no rush at this age, so chill out with them for a few weeks. Right now he merely needs breastmilk and any solids given are for fun, not for nutrition. Definitely do NOT decrease his nursing sessions. They should stay where they are at this point.
add some fruit to the cereal and try sweet potatoes
It take several tries before your baby will accept a strange type of food. You could also try switching from carrots to sweet potatoes or etc.
This sounds run of the mill. My son did the same thing around 6 months. Keep trying, but don't force him. If he only eat a few bites and then clamps his mouth shut, that's OK -- he's still getting most of his nutrition from nursing and food is more just for experimentation. Keep experimenting with a choice of cereals and Stage 1 foods (just make sure you wait a few days within between new foods incase of reactions), and eventually he will come around. It's a process, but if you don't make a big deal out if it, he will start to chomp through more and more. My son started out the same way..then he would with the sole purpose eat fruit.then vegetables...then meat. Now he is 9.5 months and eats just about everything (and lots of it!). Just sway in there and speak to his pediatrician if you have serious concerns. Good luck! Source(s): Breastfeeding Mom of 9.5 month outmoded
