A quiz in the order of my 20 month matured and his diabetes insipidus?
I have two questions...my son was diagnosed beside diabetes insipidus about 2 weeks ago and well he has be running a high fever up to 103.5. we have be to the doctors 2x and there is no sign of any illness and he is acting normal and the disorientation only seems to run real illustrious at night..could this be a symptom of the disease or the hormone pill he is on? and the second question what is the likely hood of him have a brain tumor? they have him set up for a brain MRI in 10 days and i have be told that it is a good possibility of it because of his age..i am just a concerned mom so please do not slander me for asking. thank you for reading and have a blessed afternoon.
Answers: I don't think anyone can answer your question because without an MRI, the best you can do is loaf and pray. I have the same concern as the person above me, severe dehydration (which can regularly accompany d. insipidus) can cause fever. Has your doctor checked blood work when you nick your son in and tell him about the hallucination? If not, you need to go back to the doctor and ask for blood work to check his Sodium smooth. This can indicate level of dehydration. I'm surprised they're making you wait so long for the MRI.

DI is caused by not enough ADH (anti diuretic hormone). When you
don't have this, you urinate profoundly. Enough that severe dehydration can occur and depletion of your bodys electrolytes can occur. It is a
problem with his pituatary gland within the brain. Needs MRI for sure.
