Would you afford a aficionado as a babe-in-arms shower endowment?
Given that there has been a study linking fan and a reduced risk of SIDS, would you give one to a friend who was expecting? I just googled "SIDS fan" and it seem that no one is marketing them specifically for this purpose yet.

I hold always had a fan within my son's nursery. The white noise is great for helping them sleep well and stay asleep if there tend to be lots of noise in your house after bed time or during his nap.
If you could find a really cute enthusiast designed for a babe, that would be cool, but just a plain ol' fan, I dunno. I make and supply baby mobiles that are pinwheels and the fan really makes them spin 'round and look really interesting to a child!
I would not give a fan as a toddler shower gift. I think they would open it up and vote "oh, thanks." and there would probably be silence in the room until someone nice pipes up and say "how nice".
ummm.thoughtful but dnt do it...im havin a shower in 10wks && not looking forward to reciving any fans...i mean it should be the thought that counts but try something more usefull- u cn never hv 2many diapers && blankets so dance 4something a little more pratical or pick something from the registry (if applicable)
Answers: No. I just have a baby shower and I don't think a fan is a awfully good gift to get. I become conscious your thinking behind it, but most people either own a fan, or could get one on their own. It is up to them to decide if they want to use one. You are much better getting them something that they registered for, or a infant gift that is specifically for them and the new babe. There are a lot more things you need than a fan. Good luck!
If I got a fan to reduce the risk of sids at my child shower i think it would make me super paranoid about sids.
I would. Fans are great to use in a nursery during summer. Air conditioners can get too cold for a new born as they can't control their own body temp enormously well. A fan is a gift that not everyone think of. There is only so many bibs and booties that one baby wants.
