"Schedule" blissful doctor!?
My ob is a schedule happy cat! With my last child, he made me educe, and afterwards tried to bribe me into c-section because it was taking more then 4 hours. I later found out it be his daughters birthday, but he was on call. This time, he is already talking nearly educing and c-section. I am secretly wondering if I go to all of my appointments, and everything is showing to be lately fine, would it be so bad if I "accidentally" sleep through my appointment to be educed? Let my body decide when it is time, the way things are supposed to start? If this was my first baby I wouldn't question following doc directions, but I have had several very hearty, normal deliveries, and this is probably our last newborn. It is a long process to change docs with the insurance, so this is kind of my plan.
Whoa.. How about "No" You dont deliver around HIS schedule. Goodness.
I have a great MD and he was there for EVERY visit, later when I went into labor he was on vacation... Go numeral, but one of his co workers at the pratice a very great female MD came within. She was Awesome. I have been tempter to switch..
So conceivably check about another MD in that practice, that shouldnt be a problem.
Unless you are like more than a week overdue and your tot is healthy there is no need to induce.
I disgust doctors that want to do things around their schedule instead of what is right for the patient.
Tell him you don't want to have an induction unless everything doesn't look right. It's your choice, you only just need to speak up.
What's the reason for the induction? Unless it's medically required, like your baby or you and in some sort of danger--I voice NO. Labor induction is no walk in the park. I was surrounded by an induced labor for 3 long, horrible days. They did it to me because I had preclampsia, my BP was almost 200, and I was within danger--not the baby.
I'm wishing that I would have only had the c-section, not the induction. The induction made things worse and I had a stroke on my 3rd day of labor and have to be rushed to the OR for surgery.
Do not induce unless it is absolutely needed. Unless you or your baby are in danger-SAY NO!!
Your doctor can not chose your birthing plan. If you want to go intrinsically, that is your right. He can not force you to induce or have a c-section unless it is medically necessary.
Answers: Well, "John," it's really up to you how you want your babby to be born.
Might want to see a specialist surrounded by male pregnancies. They're still pretty rare.
I know you don't want to but I would really consider changing doctors. I loved my doctor, we talked about induction but it be completely my choice (unless I went past 41 weeks). After I was contained by labor for about 14 hours she said we could either do a C-section or try more pitocin. I elected to try more pitocin and was fully dilated a couple hours subsequent. Then after pushing for an hour and a half she suggested a C-section but would have let me hang on to pushing for another 1/2 hour to hour. At that point I elected to have a C-section because my daughter had not moved at all surrounded by the hour and a half. As it turned out she was trying to come out face first. I would suggest any making your wishes known now or finding a different doctor. Even though I like schedule, your doctor sounds a little to scheduled.
Just transmit him NO!
I told my OB that I didn't want to be induced.
It's up to YOU.
Just make clear to him NO. It is your body and your baby, if there are severe medical reasons to be induced thats one item, but if you are on time, and not too far overdue, baby is healthy and so are you, afterwards you need to be allowed to let it happen instinctively. Sounds like just a money hungry doctor who isn't really concerned for your well anyone. No doctors should want to do a c-section, there are so many risks involved- both to you and baby. Tell him that you will NOT be scheduling an induction, and research for yourself what conditions require c-section (even breech babies can be born successfully vaginally) Go into your appointments beside strength and don't let him persuade you. Letting birth happen on its own is best for you and your unborn, and he as a doctor should know that. If he doesn't cavern, you should probably find a new doc, as he apparently wouldn't have your best interest in mind Source(s): mom of 4
