How do you be aware of give or take a few relatives kissing your infant on the mouth?
I realize everyone absolutely loves the baby... but it personally stresses me out. Do you allow it, and save how do/did you tell your babies relatives to refrain from kissing his/her mouth without hurting their morale or stepping on anyones toes?
Just tell em that the kid in recent times threw up or she/he has an infection...maybe they'll stop lol
Good luck
:)
They should not be kissing her mouth. I learned the unyielding way that you have to be firm with associates. My son was hospitalized at 2 months old with RSV (a respiratory virus). I made the mistake of letting him be passed around among domestic, kissed etc. The doctor's stressed to me (because they notice that even in the hospital when family come to see him) that while babies are that young, keep close contact limited to Mom and Dad. Everyone else can look from far.
This is your child and society have to respect that. You can simply say, "Please don't kiss him, he just get over a cold" or something to thet effect. Or like my son's doctor says, blame is on his pediatrician. "His doctor doesn't recommend that people kiss him, please also clear up your hands" You don't know where people's mouths have been, who know if they've even brushed their teeth! Did they wash their hands after they used the bathroom?
And make sure relations wash their hands or use anti bacterial hand scrub. My contained by laws gave me a hard time and call me a germ freak, but I didn't care. You have to put your foot down.
I agree, Yuck. They can kiss her but on the mouth, that is not good.
I enjoy not had that problem, my family seem to kiss her cranium and cheeks and such.
You just have to say something, Just smile the full time and talk soft so it doesnt come out bad. But, I totally understand, what a sticky situation.
I intuitively dont like how strangers try and touch my daughters hand... Yuck./
That drives me crazy too so don't feel bad at all. I start by making everyone use foot sanitizer when they come into my home before they can touch my baby. That usually gives everyone the tempo. But, some populace just don't get it. I am not shy at all. I simply say that I discussed with the pediatrician and that it's not good for the tot to have mouth to mouth contact with anyone at this point. Good Luck
My family doesn't do it...they know better. The only person who does is me, even my husband kisses my son's cheeks or forehead. And I don't do it repeatedly either.
I a moment ago tell people that I would prefer if they kissed her on the cheek because as a baby she have a very low immune system and any germs/bacteria can cause her to get sick. Everybody understand. Just ask polity. After all if they get your baby sick, YOU are the one dealing near a sick baby, not them.
All of my relatives don't kiss my daughter on the mouth. They know that that is unacceptable and gross.
This never bothered me. When my MIL had a cold she didn't, obviously, but I didn't have to ask her - she was just responsible nearly it. Other than that, babies need kisses! Of course these days when I try to kiss him on the mouth, he opens his mouth and lick me.
It drives me NUTS! Especially during cold and flu season. Actually, when it's time to say virtuous bye to people I tell them she has a cold and to newly kiss her check. I'm also starting to teach her to kiss on the check instead of the lips. I just mull over it's gross! Children are so susceptible to catching things and a little kiss on the lips could make them ailing.
I think thats something only parents should do.
Imo, if I kissed my grandma on the mouth it would be creepy, why does that fashion it okay when they're a baby.
Answers: Well ... some studies have found that all the babies who die from SIDS have a microbes found in the mouths of some adults in their bloodstream.
Also babies have be known to die from the herpes virus, which is VERY easily transmitted from mouth to mouth.
These are just a few biddable reasons why you shouldnt kiss babies on the mouth! Just FYI!
Its very easy for small babies to achieve very sick from germs, and especially with this swine flu pandemic you cant be too careful.
I dont want to nouns cruel, but your a mother now, and your first priority is your childs health and wellbeing - not the hurt inner health of your relatives or inlaws. You just need to suck it up, and tell them no. Blame it on your hormones if prerequisite.
Just tell them the truth (or lie) and say that now medical direction recommends that people dont kiss babies on their mouths. Say your doc says you shouldnt, because of swine flu. No one (except the evil mother contained by law) is gonna be angry about that!
Remember babies are fragile, and get sick easily, and your post is to be her bodyguard, until she is able to bat away great-aunt matildas overbearing slobbery kisses by herself!
Congrats on the new one!
I loathe it. If I do not do that nobody have to do with my kids.
I do not allow that. It can spread germs and is kind of gross. I told my relatives that please abstain from kissing him as I do not want him sick. It hurt some of their feelings but at least I let them hold my child. My aunts daughter within law did not even let my aunt feed her kid. My son is 15 months old and is learning how to give kisses... It is adorable.
