Cows milk for newborn who is not ingestion much formula?
My 9 1/2 month old does not drink much formula during the day. From the time she wakes up until her bedtime bottle, she drinks give or take a few 10-12 oz then another 2-3 oz at bedtime. She eats solids for lunch and dinner has a snack during the light of day. She also wakes up during the night and has 1 - 2 bottles for a total of 5-8 oz. I try giving her more formula but she refuse it.
I know you are supposed to wait to give cows milk until they are a year, but do you think I should try to administer her cow's milk once or twice during the day and see if she will take that? I do not want to give her cows milk instead of formula, but I want her to drink more during the daylight so maybe she will sleep better at night. What do you think?
you should dally a year for cow's milk peanut butter ,eggs, and honey try a soy based formula maybe and switch at the year mark Source(s): stay at home dad ultimate 6 months
At this point, formula should still be her primary source of nutrition and solids are just for practice. I'd set aside the formula first, and try cutting back on the amount of solids you give her.
If that doesn't work, later talk to her doctor first. Cow's milk is not recommended before 12 months because their body's aren't powerful of handling it yet.
Answers: So ... looks similar to she's getting around 20 ounces of formula a day? That's bit on the low end, but should be fine for 9 month old.
Your newborn can probably have SMALL amounts of cows mik at this age (a few ounces a day), but treat it as part of her solid-food diet, not as a replacement for her formula.
Talk to the baby's doctor, it is best to wait until they are closer to a year before cow's milk is introduced
I suppose i would try it, but first you should talk to your doctor. good luck
I think she is fine. She may be shifted to more solids and just losing the taste for formula.
You cna shift brands too. Our little fellow loves the Wal-MArt Parents Choice (With Omega 3-6)
I give my daughter regular milk at 9mths for that same reason. When she started eating food, she didn't like how formula taste, why buy it then. It is too exensive to waste. Regular milk did nothing impossible to her. She was fine on it. She still had regular bowel movements and never had allergies or sharp reflux. All babies will not drink formula or breastfeed for the entire 12mths. My 3rd baby refused my breast, so he never breastfed. Doctors say that to ensure nutrition. All of what my daughter didn't grasp from milk she had from vitamins. They make it for babies. If she takes regular milk at dark and slees all night, stick with that and donate her vitamins along with baby food to ensure nutrition.
What is so interesting to me is that most arents worry roughly a few months but as the child gets older we no longer worry roughly speaking nutrition and give them tons of unhealthy food like hotdogs, candy, hamburgers , macdonalds, soda, etc. Why is that?
have you tried breastmilk?
My dr. said I could start giving my son 'sips' of whole milk at 10 months, but not to give him full cups of it until going on for a year. Have you tried cutting her night feedings? If you can wean her from her night time feedings she would probably embezzle more during the day.
