My husband is a smoker-how lethal is it to our 3 month older?
my husband smokes and we have a 3 month old son. he NEVER smokes around the baby and he doesnt smoke inside the house and he wash his hands after his smokes but i know the baby can smell the smoke on him when he holds him...how harmful is this?
i dont agree near it and i want him to quit and he wants to quit-he's trying.
no bashing please! if you cant give me a civil answer afterwards dont answer at all...
It's still bad b/c it's in his clothes and on his breath. He really should quit for the sake of the kid.
I grasp where you are coming from, my fiance doesn't smoke anymore but he use to when our daughter was born and I hated it. Even though he wasn't a pouring smoker (about a pack every 2 weeks) you could still smell it on his clothes an in his hair. Is your husband a heavy smoker? My sister contained by law was and I hated the little one being around her because she left a trail of smell everywhere she went it be gross so I know my child had to inhale that garbage.
The residual smell of smoke is not going to kill your child but the exposure overtime could hurt his lung nouns, remember he is only 3 months so you do have to be careful what he breathes surrounded by. This also applies to other fumes such as chemical fumes (I have seen women take their newborn to nail salons) and car fumes which are also bad for his little lungs. I would not lose sleep over it if your husband is already determined that he requests to quit then it will just be a matter of time so its not an just right breathing environment but its only temporary.
My MIL smokes and and our pediatrician said that it doesn't event if the she doesn't smoke around the baby or in the house. She said that my MIL should change her clothes up to that time she holds the baby because smoke particles can be on her clothing and the baby can breathe them within. Second hand smoke and even third hand smoke can be extremely harmful to babies. If your husband have any motivation to quit or is willing, now would be a great time for the health of your toddler. I know how hard it is to quit smoking because I used to smoke a long time ago. I used the patch to quit and now there are so lots options. Good luck to your family.
Ask your pediatrition. Either he will ease your mind or he will state facts that may help your husband near his conviction to quit.
Personally, If he doesn't smoke around him and washes his hands, I'd guess it's a minimal risk. Additives in foods and some of the fumes from cleaners around the house are probably more risk.
It is still bad. Not as bad as 2nd paw smoke..but still somewhat bad.
But what my husband does, and call him crazy ,he goes within the backyard, with only his boxers on, and smokes. when he gets rear inside, he puts his clothes back on. That way Our son doesnt smell the smoke.

This is still considered "second-hand smoking"
cigarette smoking is not safe for your body or child. second and third hand smoke can and will directly affect your child. first hand smoke riddles your body beside carcinogens, rendering your breast milk worthless.
stop smoking.
That's great that he is trying to quit. I don't think it's unfavourable if he's not a heavy smoker and he doesn't hold the baby RIGHT after a cigarette. He could always brush his teeth and translation his shirt if he is going to hold the babe soon after.
as long as he isnt smoking around your baby it should be fine, Its outstandingly improbabe that any problems can come out of being too close to a smoker. Both my parents smoked for my entire life and even long before that, and my form is completely fine. My mom has been able to quit after more than 20 years of smoking cold turkey! And she's be clean for a few years now.
It takes some existing willpower to quit, so I wish the both of you the best of luck!
Its pretty harmful. Just try and quit.
its realy impossible for 3 months baby the danger is there where on earth he kisses the child cuz his breaths also reached to the baby i suggest u to nt let him to rob the baby every time he want to love his baby u must take it for him nd update him u must hav to quit smoking this is not good for u nd our baby if he didnt then warning him to use lighter cigrettes like MORE with the time i hope he will quit smoking i hav an other advice too that u hav to create a darma that your baby is now ill due to ur husband ur babe has nw some kind of breathing problems hey its jst the darama (fake) ok dnt take it seriously u hav to force ur doctor to support u in this film then u hav to force ur husband that presently he has to quit smoking i guess one of these will work rply me if it works on my id

Yes. Quit for the sake of the baby.
Answers: as long as he doesn't smoke near the baby, within the house or around you then it really doesn't pose much threat at all. if he was smoking around the child it could lead to SIDS, breathing difficulties etc.
however he should still keep up with the quiting and want medical advice about it because he'll quite possibly start up again if he tries to turn it alone. but he is doing the right thing and as much as he can at the moment so i say good on him. =]
Being exposed to someone that smokes, even if they just smoke outside the home, is thought to increase a child's chance of have ear infections, allergies, asthma, wheezing, pneumonia and frequent upper respiratory tract infections.
Smoke can also trigger asthma attacks in many children and they are often worse than surrounded by children who aren't exposed to someone that smokes.
And infants who are exposed to a caregiver that smokes, or a mother that smoked while she was pregnant, are up to 4 times more likely to die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
So improve your own and your child's strength by getting some help quitting smoking.
If you need another reason, remember that kids of a parent that smokes are more possible to start smoking themselves when they get older. Do you want your kids to have an increased risk of lung cancer or heart attacks because they well-read to smoke from you?
If you can't quit for yourself, quit for your kids.
If you can't quit, at least don't smoke inside your home or your car or other places that your children will be directly exposed to the smoke. Remember that this doesn't totally protect your children from the effects of second hand smoke though.
my parents smoke around me when i be young and i have asthma and allergies, but my sister does not. (3 years younger) as long as the baby doesn't inhale the smoke, he should be okay. dad should quit, but as long as he is wash his hands and not smoking around him, that is good!
shouldnt be to harmful
but why risk it?
and if its not hurting the baby, than its hurting the babies adjectives "dada"
i think u shod ask him to quit 4 both ur sakes
not that harmful I don`t know your over reacting and looking for a reason to have your husband quit a moment ago tell him you dont like him smoking because its bad not because of the toddler and im not bashing you or whatever you call it
