Would you consider me a horrible parent?
I smoked during my second pregnancy and smoked a few here and there during my first pregnancy. Now my first one, I smoked at the most 3 a week, my second, half a pack day. Now tolerate me add some background to this, during my first pregnancy, my husband (fiance at the time) confessed that he had cheated on me prior to my pregnancy, so person emotionally out of whack, I had the shakes, cried hysterically, was a wreck for the last 1-2 months of my pregnancy and completed up having her at 35 weeks.
Now my second pregnancy, it was still an issue, I was depressed, have the shakes, cried a lot, was overstressed, a whole index of things. I was told by my doctor to cut down as much as possible without sending my body into shock because of my depression.
Now would you call me a horrible parent to my obverse? Or just online?
But anyway, luckily my babies had no problems and came out sizeable, not tiny.
BTW, I have also heard of numerous other women being told not to quit but to cut down as much as possible.
I wouldn't call you a unpromising parent in any form. Even if your children did develop a deformity, none of this was your quirk or ever would have been.
Stay strong, and hold your head up big, even with a depression find the little things that make you happy, and find idea in your children.
I wouldn't say you're a horrible parent, but I think your whereabouts were selfish. Yeah, finding out he cheated on you was probably pretty complex but that's no excuse to put the health of your children at risk. I think that was pretty unaware on your part; no matter what you were going through. Had you be responsible and quit in the beginning of your pregnancy, you wouldn't have have to worry about sending your body into shock.even then, partly a pack isn't really "cutting down" now is it.
my doctor told me not to quit surrounded by the first trimester, but i was too sick to smoke anyways. people have the wrong info on smoking while pregnant. the merely thing from cigs that affect the fetus is the nicotine. it can decrease the supply of oxygen in the umbillical cord. as you would expect i would not call you a bad mother, on here or to your face. i know what smoking is resembling. there is no magic words that make you quit. its thorny and very stressful. who cares what other people utter to you. im sure your children are healthy and fine. "he who has not sinned, cast the first stone" to be exact my favorite thing in the world to say.
Your not a bad mother!!
Jamie smoked during her pregnancy with Dalton, and now she is pregnant again (With a tot girl that is due on Monday) and she still smoked.Dalton ended up being allergic to cigarette Smoke. She tried to stop for Dalton's & this pregnancy, but as she said "Its not smooth for a smoker to just stop smoking for 9 months. She tried, but it could not work out.
i think its pretty discouraging to smoke during ur pregnancy
i was about a pack a day smoker formerly i found out
then they day i found out i quit cold turkey
it doesnt make u a bleak parent
but i think it is a bit selfish!
and i dont think u axiom i did it my kids are fine
is helping other mothers out there trying to quit during there pregnancy!
and to be honest no offense to u
but i think its horrid to see a pregnant woman smoking
I don't think you're a horrible parent. My mom smoked with me and my big sister. Sure we're short and hold asthma, but the love she gave us means more than how tall we are or what inhalers we own to use! And besides, she didn't smoke with my third sister and she's shorter than me and has worse asthma lol.
I think adjectives down is better than quitting, if you don't smoke at all then you'll be so stressed and that's super hard on the infant!
drank while i was pregnant for like 2weeks and then i stopped when i grew up and you simply never did i mean you still smoke and don't seem to really care that it could effect your kids vigour now i did drink b.c me and my bf were having problem but i grew up and stopped and realize that it's messed up that i was messing up my kids health b.c of stress and drama so i stopped you didn't and i have no clue what doc your goin too b.c i've never hear of doctor that would tell you to keep smoking that bull sh*t yeah i wouldn't call you the greatest parent kinda uncaring act and if you brought up i would tell you to your face b.c i voice what i feel i'm not fake if i don't like something your gonna hear roughly it
I think it is horrible to smoke while pregnant since you know the risks. Thankfully your children be fine but not all women who smoke while pregnant are that lucky.
But some people only deduce about themselves and nobody else. Thats just how it goes.
EDIT:
Than your doctors isnt enormously good since he told you not to quit! Source(s): Mom of 16 month old
Not a horrible mom but perhaps careless.. Regardless of your life stresses the health of your child should ALWAYS come first. I was stressed during my pregnancy too. I lived surrounded by a hotel room for the first couple of months due to my mans work, then moved to another state then finally fund home to Indiana. Through all of that I still quit for the health of my child. Of course right after I weaned him from breastfeeding I started smoking again but at least he didn't hold nicotine in his system that he would have withdrawls from after being born.
By adage that your children were "fine" it tells mothers that it's ok to do it, and it's not. I mean, it's better than crack and it may not be "that bad" but you should still not do it. No you aren't a horrible mom.
I understand that you wouldn't be able to quit I know that the stress on your body from completely quiting would be far worse for your babe-in-arms than continuing to smoke and luckily your babies were healthy but I wouldn't say horrible but it be risky continuing to smoke during your pregnancies.
Answers: I be told not to quit by my doctor because when i tried i got very ill from it. I know it wasnt the right point to do but i cut back from over a pack a day to about 4 a daylight within a few weeks time and i thought i was gonna die i had insane headache and shakes just with that. But they diminished over time.I had big babies too first be 8lbs10 and the twins were big for twins each being over 6lbs..If they should hold issues in the future thats my cross to bear and not anyone elses.
I dont consider you a doomed to failure parent at all since i was in impossible to tell apart position i suffer from anxiety and deppression and i dont do well on medication and when i tried the patch i got hives and the gum made me have vertigo.I know its better to quit but rugged as i tried i couldnt.Im expecting thumbs down but im being honest.everyones situation is different.
I probably wouldn't say anything, to your face or online. Would you call yourself a horrible parent? Obviously you know that smoking during pregnancy is imprudent or you wouldn't be asking this question.
yes i would. i dont need to read more than the headline of your grill to say yes you are. pretty much everyone but me is a bad parent
No. You are not a horrible parent. I believe you are a wonderful parent. And I mean that!
Maybe not horrible, but definately selfish. And I am confused as to why you are bragging about it to the world as economically. All you are doing is encouraging the other moms who don't care about their fetuses to do it too. Right now I'm sure they are reading your "question" and recitation themselves, "It's ok. She did it and her babies were fine..."
Kurt and Courtney Cobain did heroin while she was pregnant. Francis came out fine, but does that mingy that it was ok??
No, but I would call you pretty unkind and disgusting.
id probably just say it online. i don't similar to controversy in person.
Luckily your babies don't have issues (known of) due to it.
Are you duplicate lady that posted earlier about your hubby cheating again?! if yes - ugh! that man. If no, i hope hes a better man presently :)
Honestly I think I would give you the benefit of the doubt. I, myself, have never smoked a cigarette surrounded by my life so I have no idea how strong the addiction is. I tend to be more of an empathetic being and try to think of what I would do if I were in a similar situation. Since I enjoy never smoked, I can't put myself in your shoes so I can't tell you if you are a good mom or not for continuing smoking. But it is adjectives said and done now and what matters is if you are being the best mom you can be today.
I don't know how you are raising your children so I can't say if you are a bad parent or not.
Do I devise you made some selfish choices? Yes.
and sorry but you really will not know if your smoking affected your babies health for a little years. Asthma may pop up later in their life, but be directly relatein seventh heavenour smoking.
Hopefully you no longer smoke around them since second hand smoke is so dangerous.
No, I would not give the name you a horrible parent on here, or to your face. I smoke the last 3 months of my pregnancy. For some reason I didn't own any cravings the first 6 months after I quit smoking. When I was about 6 and a half months pregnant the cravings hit beside a vengeance. I was shaking all the time, couldn't concentrate on anything, have horrible headaches, and felt sick all the time. Did I brand name a bad decision to start smoking again? Yes. There's nothing I can do give or take a few it now. Thankfully my son was born healthy and hopefully he stays that method.
To those of you who say that a doctor wouldn't tell a pregnant woman to quit smoking: Many doctors do say that. The withdraw from nicotine can be very stressful on a fetus. Most of the time they will tell a pregnant woman to cut down on the amount of cigarettes she smokes. Source(s): Me
cigarette smoking is not safe for your body or child. second and third hand smoke can and will directly affect your child. first paw smoke riddles your body with carcinogens, rendering your breast milk worthless.
stop smoking.
