How do you mommies cure constipation?

My son didn't have a problem with constipation til a couple weeks ago. He used to get 4 bottles and 1 solid per time, and I changed it to 3 bottles and 2 solids (sometimes he'll get an extra bottle if he's hungry) and for the first little while he was fine, and all of a sudden out of nowhere he started have really hard poops. I've tried giving him water and sometimes apple juice, and massage his tummy.

Anyone have a good home remedy? I keep forgetting to buy karo syrup, I've have that recommended to me a couple times, but I was wondering if anyone had a different solution until I get to the store. Thanks!
Switch hindmost to 4 bottles and 1 solid a day and he should be fine, he needs to have more of his formula/breastmilk than that. I should be his biggest food source, and baby food is mostly just for practicing eating. You could try 1/2 ounces prune liquid or pear juice to 1 1/2 ounces water to soften things up a bit!
My doctor said not to use karo syrup.

If you are using formula next try a gentle formula.

If you are breast feeding give him applesauce.

Also my doctor recommend sugar hose, it worked okay but I was worried about my daughters teeth.

Call you doctor's office, they usually can recommend a treatment.
i took my son to the dr and they prescribed him lactulose. I didn't like giving it to him because it would label him throw up, but I had to do what I had to do.
whenever you amend anything in their diet you may have this problem. What my pediatrician told me was to offer more water. just give him a couple of ounces of hose down about 3 times a day and no more problem!:) Good luck!
When my son was so small I changed one of his meal of the day to dried apricots or plums. I boiled some water, cut the fruit into small chunks and let the sea sit on the fruit till it was absorbed and soft and then I blended it next to an immersion blender. I also gave him a little bit of fruit juice. Pear and apple worked economically. Now that I think of it, when he got older I in recent times used frozen fruits and blended them up. We always had a ton of plums so I used that. Also, when I gave him bananas I be always careful to give him plums or apricots or a moment or two juice too because they would plug him up.
PRUNES!

half ounce of prune liquid and half ounce of water! OR gerber stage 1 prunes... works everytime :)
Answers:    When mine be constipated (a few months ago) I gave him prunes and in the evening I got my swimsuit on & took a tub with him while massaging his tummy. Instant results.

Also don't give him any bananas, apple sauce, rice or any other in one piece grains as they are often the cause of constipation. (my son's constipation be caused by bananas) *apple juice is different because it's obviously...of late the juice

Papaya is good for relieving constipation as well.
How old is your son? I noticed you said you cut out one of his bottles. If he's lower than a year in age you shouldn't be cutting out any of his formula intake. That still needs to be his major source of nutrition. Introducing solids are just for fun, really, until your baby is older and shouldn't replace any formula or breast milk they catch.

He may not be ready to take on that much solid food. Cut back to freshly 1 feeding/day and see if that helps the problem. Also, did you introduce any new foods recently? That may be the make happen.

Anyway, try putting him in a warm bath to soak for a bit and any massage his belly while in it or after he gets out.
