3 week aged toddler (born 6 weeks premature) wanting to guzzle every hour?
I have been giving my baby breast milk (I pump my milk and impart it to him by bottle as he has had latching on issues)
Anyway, he's been wanting to chomp through every hour to hour and a half around the clock. It makes it so hard to return with decent sleep at night. And then I am up adjectives day with him and my 2 year old daughter. I'm exhausted!! I don't remember my daughter wanting to drink this frequently in the beginning.
Is this normal or could it own something to do with his prematurity?
Normal, even in full term babies some simply need to eat more often afterwards others my first went hours in between my youngest was approaching yours every hour to hour and a half and she was full term 9lb little one..
I did the same thing near the exception with my daughter was only 5 weeks premature. They will be really inconsistant eaters for a while until they are something like the same time as your due date would have been. Let them munch through as much as they want because it is much better than having one whom has no desire to drink from a bottle or nipple. He will drink what he needs but if you see him start spitting up more frequently try to cut him wager on a little he may be eatting to much but that is the only root you should turn a premature baby away a bottle. GOOD LUCK!!
Answers: It's bc he's a preemie, their lives are one big growth spurt. When mine got off the feed tube, he was on a 3 hour schedule, but once I got him home he took sour like a rocket. It's about every 1 1/2 hours, sometimes 2 oz. sometimes 3, and the way he cries you would reckon he was starving to death! They hold a lot of catching up to do, so they eat more often. Source(s): mom to preemie, a moment ago asked his pediatrician this question today
could be my son was a premie and had a heck of an appetite.
