1 yr old-fashioned have be coughing adjectives hours of daylight?

Hello, I watch a almost 1yr old and today they dropped him off and he have had a dry cough all day do heavy.. He coughs every 5 min or less.. It sounds like a dry cough.. no runny nose, he sneezed 2ce solely. I have a 2 yr old and I don't want her sick! Should the mother of the boy keeped him? she tried telling me it started when he woke up and its allergies.. He be sick last week w-fri(coughing and sneezing) and she also told me he was fine all weekend , that it started today.. any counsel?
Answers:    In the future I would require a dr's note that it's just allergies so your kids don't bring sick.
