At what age can a infant enjoy a cup next to a straw?
...and is there anything bad caused by using a straw repeatedly?

I own this one for my son. He has been using it since he started drinking water when we started solids. He can use a regular sippy better, but this straw cup works okay because he is limited as to par he can put the straw i nhis mouth, thereby avoiding choking hazards.
Well my toddler never like sippy cups so he started with a straw cup at maybe 8 or 9 months old, he figure it out immediately and has never even used a sippy cup. (I should say he never used the regular filter proof sippy cups, he did use these Born Free sippy cups starting at 6 months that were more like a bottle, he drank them like a bottle but could never return with used to the sippy cups that you had to tip up and suck out of)
The boxes say 2 years for most of them but I just other watched him while he had the straw cup. He is now 18 months and still uses them.
We use the Playtex ones.
my son has been using a straw almost since he could sit up and hold the cup on his own
About the time they start sitting up they can learn to drink out of one. I started them on a liquid box so I could squeeze the juice into the straw and give them a taste. They caught on pretty sudden! Nothing wrong with using straws.
Answers: Whenever your child learns how to suck out of a straw you can start giving a cup with a straw. My son learned how to use a straw at going on for 19 months old and now he loves to drink out of a cup with a straw.
drinking with straw is cause more gas cuz of suxing up the air.
and straw could cause choking if the baby is still immature, preferable much older than toddler.
Goodness no, try whenever you like. Takes a while for them to get the hang down of it, my daughter started drinking from it about 2 months ago, so she was 13 months or so.
