What is your toddler doing at 5 Months?

HI. just wondering what your childrens development is like at 5 months? My little boy is nearly crawling and is competent to sit up on his own for a short time. He chats away to himself and loves to stand up with me holding him. i ont know if he is just developing against the clock or all children are doing these things.
it took my son till he be about 5 months to sit on his own for a short time but he wasnt crawling till almost 8 months i think every child progresses differently he also goo'd gaa'd and babble to him self since he was about 4 months
my lil man is 4.5months, he's super energetic, he just today about an hour ago be sat down reached up to our coffee table and pulled himself up! I was amazed, he stood in attendance all smiling and pleased with himself for about a minute! He can also crawl backwards, roll tum to put money on, back to tum, sit on his own, takes steps when holding my fingers, when he does all of those things he turns to look at me and only just gives me this huge cheeky smile, as if to say look mummy arent i clever. He seems to enjoy done everything real quick, i swear when he's walking i'll be run ragged!! Source(s): expurgate: just to ask, whoever thumbed down me, how come? How can my lil guy doing things deserve a thumbs down?! Lol some ppl are so petty, just see it so many times, and i thought this time i'm gonna ask.
Answers:    My twin sons are 17 weeks, 4 days and they can sit supported for a little while before they flop to one side or forwards. They rattle on away happily to themselves or each other for hours, nothing that make sense to us adults, just weird noises i'm sure make an awful lot of sense to them! They grip onto anything within reach for dear life (Especially my quill. Have almost been scalped a few times) and they also make sort of walking movements if held under the arms. They're not crawling however, though they are happy babies. Always giggling and flashing toothless gums.. Tyler has a captivation with his own little feet. It's quite comical lay him on his back and watching him put his foot to his mouth.. Riley goes into hysterics if you place him in front of a mirror.. They own their own funny ways!.. Supposedly it's about on target, but every child develops at their own pace so these milestones don't really have a set age reduce.
My daughter is 5 1/2 months old and she is competent to roll from her belly to her back and can almost get from back to belly. She loves her jumparoo and doesn't approaching tummy time much but I've been pushing it a lot more lately. She'll lay there and make for items and will try to wiggle to them but can't move anywhere yet. She can also sit on her own for only a few minutes and consequently she'll fall forward or sideways.
hello, i deliberate its normal. dont worry about it!

my 5.5 month old-fashioned is sitting up for long periods of time, (up to 15/20 minutes or when we go a walk surrounded by her buggy) pulling herself up, and also nearly crawling (she can crawl backwards well, but so far only rocking to throw herself forwards!)

Also my little one LOVES standing up, actually her legs are strong plenty to do it herself for short periods too, however im not letting her just yet! She can also verbs herself up.

Shes really chatty too - chatting and babbling all day long, and she can mimic sounds very soon - mama, la, ba, and da. Also when we do songs she can join in too at the appropriate place! clever girl!

anyways ... every baby develops at their own gait - some things your kid will do before, or after others, however its neither a reflection on your childs intelligence nor your parenting. Try not to compare!

Congrats on your LO!
I have a 5 month old -- he's scooting around similar to an inchworm and getting his legs under him like he would to crawl but he just pushes forward instead of getting up on his hand too :P he can sit up if I pull him up into position, although if he turns his head too far he topples over. he rolls all the time, especially when I'm trying to adaptation his diaper or clothes. he 'chats' and tries to make different noises. he sleeps consistently and wants to get through with us (we haven't started solids though). he mimics a lot and laughs and smiles often.
My son is 5.5 months old and is doing just around the same thing as your son. I cannot change his diaper anymore short him constantly rolling over, lol. He loves to stand and jump around. He isnt that great with sitting up yet, but he's getting at hand. Rather than falling from side to side, he is beginning to lean forward. When he is on his belly, he tries to crawl and sticks his little butt so high up in the upper air! ha ha. He loves to talk to himself and making razzes.
lucky u, he is catching up very brisk and good...mine at 7months is doing all what u just said.
