How do you get hold of your little one started surrounded by modeling or promotion?
People keep telling us that our seven month old son should do modeling. He is terrifically sociable and loves people so I think he has the opinion of yourself for it. I don't want to take this too seriously, but I wouldn't mind an extra few bucks for diapers! What is the first step we need to take? We hold a ton of great photos of him (although not professional photos) and I don't want to have to lay out a lot of money. We live near Philadelphia so if you enjoy a name of someone to contact that would be great.
Answers: 95% of people who get their children into modeling call a halt up spending more than they'll ever make. You will have to invest in your child. Agencies do not money for comp cards or portfolios for child models because their careers are so short (average career is 9 months), there are terribly few jobs, and most jobs don't pay much (average $125/day). If your child is underneath 6, you'll have to produce new comp cards every 6 months as children grow so quickly and their looks loose change from month to month. That will cost you $4-800 every time you need to get them redone. You'll also hold to get 2-4 new portfolio pictures every 6 months as well, which can cost $150-300 depending on the studio you use. In supplement, you'll be spending your time driving from go-see to go-see hoping your child gets cast out of the 200 other babies there. The average model have to go to 20 go-sees for every 1 job they are booked on
Unless you are in LA or NY and to a substandard extent Miami and Chicago, there really aren't many opportunities for child modeling. You want to live where the childrens magazines are published (NY), print ads are shot (mainly NY, to a less important extent LA), catalogs are shot (NY, LA, Miami), TV commercials are shot (LA) or major ad agencies are located (NY, Chicago)

Just let the kid be a regular kid, dont get him into modeling. Just be glad that he his ecstatic and healthy. Dont try to make a buck off your kid, that's awful.
