At what age did you start putting shoes on your babe-in-arms?

My 1yr old has been walking for a few months immediately but I still haven't bought him any shoes, do you think its time he starts wearing them? What age did you baby starting wearing shoes?
Yes, that is the age surrounded by which they should start wearing shoes. We had our son measured/fitted for walking shoes when he was 10 months. Which is right around the time that he mastered walking. After he began wearing shoes on a regular principle his walking improved dramatically.
I started putting shoes on my kids right away. Soft ones though.
When they started crawling I get the harder proper shoes so that when they did start walking they would be used to them on the feet.
In my experience it was like they have to learn how to walk twice without it. Once minus shoes, and all over again with the added weight difference near shoes on.

I wanted to add that all 3 of my girls walk early also, around the 8-9 month mark.
My son's in daycare, so that may be the reason he started wearing shoes earlier than a year outdated. I first started putting them on him at 8 months, because they would play outside a lot and such. He started walking at 14 months though.
I started putting real shoes, not the soft ones, on my son when he was just starting to totter. It is important that they are fitted properly though. You could interfere with the development of his foot. The arch of the foot does not develop until your child is older.

My son's first shoes were $60 and made by Stride Rite. A FANTASTIC brand for little ones learning to amble and balance. He has very far-reaching, chubby feet and the brand makes all sizes of shoes, which is sound for the wide variety of kiddie feet shapes.

Inside the house, my son is other barefoot though. Shoes are just for when we are outside. If it is chilly, he wears Robeez leather slippers.
One year old...shoes , I feel, don't abet a child develop proper foot muscles when learning how to walk.
Well I'm assuming that it's summer where you are too so I wouldn't put shoes on him either. lol. Kids resembling to go barefoot.

I still have never put shoes on my almost 1 year old (he's not walking though). I never put shoes on my kids until they certainly started walking.
I've never put any shoes on my boys except surrounded by cold weather. It's healthier for kids to go barefoot.
My son has been wearing shoes from the foundation, but only soft ones and when we're not home. When we're home, its barefoot socks at most. But by one, children definitely need shoes...
Answers:    We bought Lukas' first shoes 2-3 weeks ago so he was 9 months behind the times. Mainly because we kept taking his push walker to the park and he enjoyed walking up and down... he had prewalker shoes, but I figure proper fitting, walking shoes would be better for his feet. He's 10 months now and walks around 20 steps by himself, so I'm glad we hold proper shoes now! We don't have them on his feet much, but give somebody a lift them along in his changing bag within case we're somewhere he can stretch his legs when he's restless.

No baby needs to wear shoes indoors, within the pushchair or car seat... I'd say a kid needs shoes when I baby is walking outdoors! I still let Lukas hike barefoot on the beach or on grass (in safe places) as it's better for him... but shoes are good for walking on the street or at the park.
Logan was walking at 10 months so i bought him a two of a kind of stride rite shoes for first walkers..
Actually - contrary to popular belief, it has be proven that babies who walk barefoot develop the muscles in their feet and ankles to be more supportive and stronger so they in actuality improve walking skills faster. Far cry from the old days where they have babies in high top lace ups to 'support' their ankles.

I put shoes on them when it was crucial for outside play and public walking. Otherwise, my kids are always barefoot in the house and a lot of times within our own backyard.
