How Would You Treat Baby Eczema Naturally/Holistically?

Good morning. My LO is 7 months old and I took him to the doc yesterday because of a rash- turns out it is Eczema. :( Thankfully he doesn't seem to notice it, he doesn't appear to be itchy.

The doc suggested hydrocortisone cream but we're wanting to avoid steroid creams. She suggested Eucerin Calming Cream and Cetaphil but I'm worried just about some of the chemical components.

So far here's what I've been trying (granted it's been only 2 days); I don't reason it's improving, but, it's not getting any worse...
Moisturize every diaper change. Have been using coconut grease but it seems he is too greasy from it, would prefer something that absorbs into the skin more. It's organic but not virgin and not refined- could that be the problem?

Before bed he get a lukewarm oatmeal bath (and moisturizing right after).

Going to try Happy Bellies cereal with probiotics in it (waiting for OK from doc to proceed near probiotics). He is also breastfed and has a milk protein sensitivity- I inadvertantly had dairy products and that's when the Eczema showed up so I'm being exceptionally strict with my diet again (also trying to avoid soy now).

I think the key would be finding a more creamy moisturizer -- natural/holistic and not so greasy.

What own you tried? What skin care regimen do you follow for your LOs?

Thanks bunches! :)
My son has a slight shield of excema on the side of his face near his eye. We were told by our doctor to use hydr-cortizone gel 2x a day and I think it works great. It came out discouraging last night and I put it on before he go to bed and he was completely clear this morning.
breast milk in his skin will help. It's the wonder cure for so many things.

As for creams, the best piece for eczema is to keep the skin damp and cool until it clears. One of the best way to do this is to put damp bandages on the area, and then spritz next to water regularly. It should clear it up in 24hrs.
breastmilk
My son had the same piece at that age! Younger actually. We just used Eucerin Lotion. And Dove Unscented body wash. It help and the eczema went away! woohoo! My son is 14 months and has never gotten it back. We still use Eucerin and Dove.

I would significantly recommend it.
Answers:    My 2 mo old has eczema...the doc told me to use Baby Aveeno curls and body wash and keep her skin moisturized with Aquaphor (by Eucerin). Using this guidance along with my own experience with eczema I've been doing the following (I've put asterisks subsequent to what I believe is the most important):

(1) *** You MUST wash EVERYTHING (baby's clothes, your clothes, sheets and blankets, towels and wash cloths etc.) with mild detergent...I use Tide free or All free but any one should do as long as it is mild, free of dyes and fragrances. This is high-status because the baby comes into contact with your clothes, sheets etc.

(2) I use a baby blanket where on earth ever I lay her and whenever I hold her in my arms to minimize contact. She sleeps with me and I have a reliable area of the bed that is designated for her and I don't lay in that nouns.

(3) *** I bathe her daily while she has a flare up (there is a fresh study released suggesting this and I know this from experience)

(4) I use the same soap on her that I use for myself and that's Dove sensitive skin but I don't use it on her face or her hair (learned this contained by a breastfeeding class).

(5) I use the Aveeno Baby my doc suggested on her hair.

(6) *** When it is really bad and her crevices are raw I lift a mixture of half water half vinegar (I use white distilled but natural Apple Cider is good too) and once I'm done bathing her I go over her raw areas near the vinegar mixture (it may or may not sting a little, my baby has no spontaneous effect to it) and then I go back over her next to just water. You can do this for about 1 or 2 days consecutively (this is a rushed fix and will heal the skin so that its not so raw and oozing.I know this from my own experience). If you don't feel comfy beside the vinegar you can also use cornstarch on his crevices and you rub it on like baby powder...works like a charm!

(7) *** When she comes out the hip bath I pat her dry and let the air finish the rest then I moisturize her next to the Aquaphor my doc suggested (it has the consistency of petroleum jelly) and I moisturize her once or twice during the day.

(8) I would also suggest that you use mild "eczema-friendly" products on your skin as well considering the infant comes into contact with your skin.Lubriderm is good.

(9) I don't know if you breastfeed but I do and I've heard that rubbing breast milk over her will alleviate it.gonna try that too.

(10) Also, if you are breastfeeding avoid dairy (this flares it up).

This is what I do and it works like a charm...my daughter's eczema goes away about a wk or smaller number after it flares up.

I know this seems like a lot but trust me it will become second temper once u get into the habit of it and when you see the results it will all be worth it.

Hope I help...good luck! :) Source(s): I have eczema and my baby have it. I've also done my research.
breastmilk will do the trick!

yourwelcome bunches! :)

Breastmilk can be a wonderful eczema treatment because it is mild on your baby’s skin and does not contain extra ingredients that will aggravate allergies. Wash the affected area with breastmilk to be sure it is verbs. Breastmilk is a sterile solution and will clean your infant’s skin gently. After the area have been cleaned, apply a thin layer of breastmilk and allow it to nouns dry. This same technique can be used to prevent eczema flare-ups, treat other skin rashes, and cure and prevent diaper rashes.
