38 weeks pregnant and I want a spanking new OB, is this possible?
Late last night I had a vastly strong feeling that my baby girl (or boy) is ready to be born. Also, for personal reason I'd prefer that my child not be a Leo (my husband is a Leo, and it's real problem.)
So I called my OB and told him that I thought we should induce as soon as possible and he said, basically, that he wasn't going to induce me because I have a "feeling." He was really dismissive. He also said "How did you get this number? Please don't ring me at home."
I'm not sure I can give birth under the care of someone who is so disrespectful of my vibrations. Can I switch to a different doctor? Has anyone switched this late?

A feeling isn't something a doctor is allowed to base an induction on.
He be dismissive because you called him at home over a "feeling".
I understand not wanting a disrespectful doctor being your caregiver during birth but possibly you should *try* to recognize ~ you're not sounding very rational here. Were you this concerned something like little things (such as your child's astrological sign) BEFORE you were pregnant? If not, you're hormonal, if yes, perhaps you should google OCD. At the wrapping up of your pregnancy your hormones are raging and it is normal to get easily upset and frustrated. Being so in arrears in your pregnancy it would not be advized for you to get a new OB. It would lug a couple weeks to get in with a unusual one anyways. Most likely you would go into labor by then. Just because you hold a feeling your baby is ready to be born does not have it in mind that the baby is actually ready. It is a bit selfish of you to request that your baby not be a Leo. That is just rubbish. It was not appropriate for you to call him at home. That is why most doctor's have answering services for emergency, which this was not. That is his own family or alone time and you should have respected that. Doctors work long satisfactory hours and they really need that time to recoup, not to be bothered by everyone's issues. Most likely no other doctor will induce you any just for the reason that you want to be and you will be stuck with another doc who might be worse consequently the first, but also whom does not know anything about you and your baby. It is much better to just stick it out beside this doctor. At most being 38 weeks you only have another 4 weeks gone.
I think your doctor did what was required of him. His job is to produce sure you're healthy, and that you deliver a healthy baby. As long as here are no complications, you want your baby to stay in utero for as long as possible. Not wanting your baby to be a Leo is not a great grounds for early induction.

Technically, no they won't tolerate you switch. My sister lived in another state but wanted my OB to deliver her. We asked and she said no, she would have to enjoy been seeing her the whole time.
I, too, asked to be induced a few weeks early and both times they said no. It's better to maintain baby inside for as long as they could.
It is a BIG invasion of privacy to call a doctor at home. I have to run through an answering service, then a paging service, then perchance a nurse before getting my doctor. It really was not right to call him at home. They capture so little time at home that they value every minute of it. I worked for a doctor for almost 3 years and I can tell you he put in more hours afterwards anyone I know and he was super happy to spend time with his household. It infuriated him to no end when patients some how got his home number and called him. I'm sorry if this sounded expect, but it really was over the line. Just relax. I'm sure you will see things differently within the light of day. Congrats!

I would be dis respectful too if i was a doctor being STALKED at home!
38 weeks is considered full-term, but it's very important to keep your little on within there as close to 40 weeks as you can. It's not worth the risk of under-developed lungs.
Though you have issues with your husband mortal a Leo, is your baby's health more important to you or his/her zodiac sign?
I understand your OB be dismissive, but how did you get that number? I would never have called my OB-GYN at home. I would own went to the hospital I was going to deliver at and talk next to a doctor there. Your OB was probably just surprised he get the call. Try not to hold it against him. Switch for future babies if you wish.

You have bigger issues than your OB. Get yourself in order first. This is a psychological nightmare waiting to come about.
I can't even tell if this question's serious or not! Everyone's in position for their baby to be born about a month before it comes. .. Why wouldn't you want a Leo tot? It's an awesome starsign! And your baby is ready to be born when you go into toil. Sorry if that sounds blunt... but you can't project your wishes onto the new human you're bringing into the world. As for the OB... in Australia you get whoever's on the shift.. not whoever you close to. If there's one thing you must learn right now, it's that the baby's wishes usurp your own.
Your "feelings" have zilch to do with the doctor or what the doctor sees as right. Why did you call him at home? That is a massive breech of privacy,and I'm sure that if he could,he may even discharge you from his practice. You're so close to possession though,that that's not going to happen. You are full term. Your baby will be born when it's born. So I agree next to most of the other answers.
