Moms, when did you install newborn gate?
I am 38 weeks pregnant (very excited) and I had my husband install the baby gates through the house ending week. I like to be prepared and I wanted to do as much in credit as possible.
They`are the kind with a swinging door and you step on a foot pedal to open them. We enjoy 9 installed. Lately I am finding it difficult to maneuver through the house (especially being so pregnant.) I can't see my feet so sometimes I forget the gate is within and walk right into it - I gave myself a bad bruise on the thigh.
So in a minute I am thinking maybe we should have waited to install the gate until after the baby was born? Maybe when he or she is 2 weeks old? When did you install your infant gates?
We own not long installed ours and my son is 11 months old. You really don't need to use them until the baby can verbs it's own.
Unless you are using the gates to protect your baby from pets, then I would vote to have them up when you bring the baby home.
All the best with your hot baby!
We are going to be installing baby gates at the top and bottom of our stairs with a door. And we are going to do it beforehand the baby is born, but only because we have two dogs and already hold a couple that are just the ones that wedge in the door and it is to hold on to them from going upstairs during the day. But we decided we could go ahead and install them so that we can hang on to them out when the baby is little so they aren't in her face. But contained by your situation I probably would have waited several more months before installing them. They will most possible just get in your style at this point. And won't really need them until your baby is crawling.
Why would you need 9 baby gates? I am pretty sure you are a troll, I stingy you were going to throw out a pack and play because the delivery driver smoked and your pack and play was within the BOX in the BACK of the truck. Really? Yeah, pretty sure you are a troll.
You don't need baby gates until they're moving around (or possibly if you have a pet you want to keep out of a certain area). The complete point of them is to prevent your baby crawling where it shouldn't. If they're too young to crawl, they're pointless.
I chew over you've gotten ahead of yourself a bit. You've months and months before you need to be worrying about those sorts of things.
:) Well, you certainly similar to to be prepared! Generally speaking, you only have to install baby gate when that little one is mobile. That means crawling effectively, usually not before 6 months of age, and often not until around 10 months!
So, if they are a twinge to maneuver through, I believe you can remove the swing door part, and leave the installed hardware, on most models. Take off the ones that are contained by your way, and you'll be ready to pop them back on sometime after New Years!
Good luck near your birth!
You are either a troll or have serious OCD. Going and cleaning 2 specks of dust from the tv while your partner is watching tv, buy NINE tot gates...it's not a prison.
I don't believe that you are pregnant at all. I will not be fooled by trolls who can spell and write well.
ADD : I freshly read your questions and you are beyond freaky. You better buy a bubble for that baby of yours.
when they start crawling is when you need them... they cant do much at 2 weeks old but if u want to be organised then thats great
i would set out the gates open until you have to start closing them at the back you.
We installed baby gates the light of day after our son started crawling (he was almost 8 months old). Personally, I'd find it too much hassle negotiating all those gate with a bump or a newborn... and also pretty pointless as newborns aren't going anywhere fast!
It seem a little overkeen to be installing them during pregnancy... but then I suppose some people approaching to be super organized!
when he started to move around lol close to at 4months old
My daughter is 15 months and I only have one installed, which is within a odd place too (in the hallway blocking off the kitchen and bathroom). I don't own any stairs.
I didn't even install it until she was crawling.
Answers: Most people don't bother installing baby gate until their child is old enough to move around on their own (crawling, walking in a trekker, pulling themselves up, etc). Before then there's really no danger of them wandering into an unsafe room or falling down the stairs because they rely entirely on you (or another person who is antediluvian enough to walk and carry a baby) to gain from room to room.
That said, at 33 weeks I have one baby gate up right in a minute in the basement and we plan on getting another baby take to put up between the dinning room and kitchen. We will need one more to go up at the top of the crypt stairs. However, the gate we have up now and the one we are going to be installing soon are to hold on to the dogs confined/out of areas we don't want them in. We've had two baby gate for the past 6 years for this very purpose. It will be months before they preserve the baby out of any danger.
If your gates are already installed (and this is assuming that they are mounted to the door frame near hardware and not the pressure mounted kind that you just lift the stick and remove) then I second the idea of leaving them up and freshly leaving the gates open adjectives the time.
Well, this may make you crazy. But my daughter is 8 months older and we have one gate that we use occasionally. We just enjoy toys and things blocking things we don't want her to get too. But, whatever makes you be aware of better!
OMG take them down!
I didnt put mine up until my kids were crawling.at 7 or 8 months old-fashioned!!
They are a PAIN and you will have them long enough. I really really really suggest you take down at tiniest some of them.
I only ever had a max of 2 of them.
We didn't put any gate up until they started crawling nd moving around on their own, but since you already have them up it wouldn't make sense to take them down. Just take off them all open for now you can close them then on.
Lol...
You don't really need them until the baby starts moving around. Installing them for a newborn is just more trouble for you.
I didnt install them until my daughter was crawling and that was at about 7months. You solitary need them when they can escape lol so dont worry about have them up until that day comes, you will know
As soon as he started crawling!
I mean, I guess you could leave your up if you want, but you won't be needing them for in the region of 6 months. You might get annoyed with them and they could be a tripping hazard for you and your husband :)
I didn't install little one gates till my baby started crawling. There's no need to since then. You got at least six months to dance.
Two weeks old? You are obsessive compulsive. The child won't be crawling until it's 7 months old. And 9 gates? What are you running, a jail?
When Michael Jackson's "Invincible" made its debut
I didn't put them up until about 9 months, that's when he be pulling up and getting things off the coffee table so i figured it was time. he be alwso able to climb up the stair at 9 months so i had to keep a kid gate at my parents houst
My son is almost a month and we still don't have them up. Since he can't move around on his own we decided to focus on getting everything else organized and to baby-proof our home when he was getting closer to the crawling stage. I couldn't imagine how you can maneuver through 9 gates adjectives the time! With as clumsy as I was at 38 weeks I'm sure I would have ended up walking into one or falling over one of them too. Of course my favorite piece to do was to walk right into the kitchen table and that's been at hand for years! :)
