Why do they vote to Wait 6 weeks after Vaginal birth to hold sex?
Is waiting 6 weeks really necessary? Just wondering. Why they tell you to wait..The nurse told me past i left the hospital...nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks...I have only one stitch after giving Vaginal birth...And feel i am all heal...My pp bleeding stopped two days ago...I had my baby girl June 20, 2009 3 weeks and 5 days ago.Is it because my chances of getting pregnant again this soon is big? If i felt up to it and feel that i am healed later why not? I do not wont to get pregnant this soon.Me and my husband would use condoms..
Thanks for your answers
Your chancing of getting pregnant are the same as they were beforehand. Not higher or lower. Why don't you make an appointment for a depo shot tomorrow then you can hold sex without worrying about getting pregnant. =] I got the shot & started have sex after my pregnancy at 3 weeks. But the 6 weeks is recommended.
I have my son two days after you had your daughter. And I have been have sex for a week. I had six stitches, and when I went in for my two week check to fashion sure i had healed, my doc said that since i was heal, that i could have sex if i felt up to it, just variety sure to use condoms everytime, because i am having surgery to have a tubal on the 31st and definately dont want to risk getting pregnant again before afterwards.
It is observed that it takes approximately six weeks for the uterus to return to "normal" size after vaginal birth. So, rash "authorities" felt that the proscription against intercourse should coincide with this landmark.
What we in truth see in practice, however, is that some women are emotionally and physically ready for intercourse much earlier. Williams Obstetrics, a respected workbook, states: "following an uncomplicated delivery, a six-week abstinence from intercourse makes little sense. It can be undamagingly resumed in as little as three weeks or when comfort can be maintained".
From your description, it sounds as if you may be ready for intercourse far earlier than some other women. If you enjoy had no tearing or episiotomy, and your lochia (bleeding) has changed from red to pink and is scant within amount, it is probably fine for you to resume sexual relations as soon as two weeks postpartum. I would advise this additional week to assure the healing and closure of the cervix.
You will want to protect yourself from another pregnancy by using a contraceptive method.
You should not resume sexual relations if you hold any fever, malodorous discharge or red bleeding
Just a warning.. it's going to hurt. You have internal wounds that need to treat and inserting anything in the vagina before it's healed can head to it not healing quickly or properly. I think here is also a risk of an infection (at least that's what I was told) but I'm sure it's a "minor" risk..
I would wait in recent times because it's going to hurt like you wouldn't believe. I was probably 4 months postpartum before we could even..um... take it in lol.. And another month or so after that before I found it enjoyable instead of hurting..
We were so worn out from the baby and getting used to a unmarked lifestyle, six weeks didn't seem too long for us. As a matter of fact, neither of us have the drive until about that time.
because your cervix generally takes around 6 weeks to close adjectives the way and before it closes you are at a much higher risk for infection and pregnancy. my husband and i have sex after 4 weeks in the heat of the moment and nothing impossible happened but i wouldnt reccomend it.
Answers: The 6 week rule is a rule of thumb, it depends on how traumatic your delivery was. My wife and I own 3 kids and it was different with all three kids.
You know your body best, if you're sense fine and only got 1 stich then you should be fine.
I had 3 stitches when I had my little girl. We have sex 4 weeks after she was born. I was healed and primed. I think everyone is different. Depends on the person.
typically its to give your body time to heal from the birth, and so you don't get pregnant again. You are super fertile at the time, but your body's still anodyne and you might not be up to having another pregnancy so soon after the birth, Condoms can tear.
Even though you only have one stitch, its still best to wait.
