Baby born prematurely- stressing next to worry- Please help- warning!! Please?
I was just about 23 weeks pregnant near my first baby boy.
A week and a half ago I saw my Dr- he said the baby is measure as if he was about 28/29 weeks (we have a history of colossal babies in the family) On 13th July I gave birth to him and he weighed surrounded by at 2lb. He was nearly 4 months early. I am worrying so much. Dr has calmed me that because of his size he has a much greater chance of survival. He has be thriving for 2 days and it's looking up. I am still worried sick. My boyfriend is trying his best to help by looking after my 2 daughters but they only seem to want mummy and its so complex juggling the girls and the new baby.
Has this happen to anyone else? Please give me some advice it would be so helpful- please, thankyou. Karlee x
Hello Karlee
First congrats on the birth of your baby boy!!
It is very stressful and startling when you have a prem baby. My sister had her tot 8 weeks premature and he was about 4 pounds in immensity and she was so scared. Seeing the fragile baby beside machines and tubes everywhere is scary and you are not unusually to feel as you do.
Spend as much time in SCBU as you can to bond next to your baby and ask as many questions as you similar to. My sister did. My sister also had depression following the birth as she felt guilt as her baby be born too early. Try not to get into that trap. nature arranged your baby was going to be early and nought you did was your fault.
Maybe there is a group or helpline at the hospital surrounded by which you can also communicate with other Mums and dads that have had a premature birth?
I need you well and am sure everything will be fine. Source(s): RN
My preemie came 6 1/2 weeks rash, but the best thing I could do to be in control of the situation was read up on preemies. So that when I talk to the docs, I wasnt stressed with misunderstanding them.
Also, get some good books, and turn in there and read to him, maybe pick out some special books, newly for him. Also if you can or when you can, do kangaroo care.
Answers: my heart goes out to you. and i know how you quality. my daughter was born weighing 1lb 12oz. i was scared out of your wits about losing her i thought there was no road something so small could survive. but she did and put Weight on gradually until at just under 5lb she could come home. she stuck with other children quickly and is now in the region of to leave school and go to university. i know prem babies look so scraggy but it's amazing how strong they are and how quick they come on. so try not to worry (i know that's easier said) too much. the first 24 hours are usually the most critical and your baby have got through the worst. good luck, and congratulations. x
dont worry it will be ok, if his body was that developed he will be fine. dont stress as the dr would relay you if he wasnt going to make it or something was seriously wrong. as long as it is looking up i would take that a great article.
He will be just fine my sister had 2 babies and both be premies and they weighted almost 2 pounds each (they were born on diff ocasions) they both survived so dont worry the doctors are great they know what theyre doing newly keep positive
everything will be ok and will work out for the best
have faith
enjoy the trial baby

My SIL had her baby at 26 weeks she weigh 2lbs. she was in the hospital for 4 months, she had issues beside feedings she was 10lbs when she came home ( she is still on a feeding tube it go thru her stomach) She is 8 months old now. She is doing good. Just do not hand over up hope. It may be hard sometimes, but it will be worth it when you can bring him home. 2lbs at 23 weeks is really good. I do not pretend to understand what you are going thru. It must be so tremendously difficult all I know is thru watching my SIL is that with all the technology presently your baby does have a good shot. You will probably own some bad days some good but just suspend in there.
Stressful situation but your baby is in nontoxic hands. I'd not worry about your girls, involve them where on earth you can, but explain that right now you have to be with the child and that your boyfriend will look after them. Family life can be a juggle but right now you need to be at the hospital for your own peace of mind.
2lbs is a biddable weight and many babies are born much smaller and develop in to sound children and adults. It must be difficult but prioritise and keep positive.
You'll do great. Good luck :)
my aunties friends baby was born at 26weeks about 10weeks ago, hes still getting strong every daylight
