My 8 year frail step-daughter still sucks a pacifier!?
I just found out she sucks a pacifier at night at her mother's house. I was already interview the fact that she carries a "blankie" around all the time, when she's at home and near her father and me. Her mother makes her a new blankie every time you turn around. She seems to own more blankies than I can count. We deal with the blankie although we don't think it's called for for her to have it with her EVERYWHERE but recently the little girl confessed to me that she still sucks a pacifier at darkness. If she loses it her mother will buy her a new one. The reason she told me this is because we went on a week long leave with her little baby sister 6 months old (my and her father's daughter) and she said it be hard for her to see her sister with her binkie and she couldn't have hers because her daddy won't allow it. Is this big-hearted of weird or what?
Very weird, and very disturbing that the mother encourage it. She is self soothing with the blankie & pacifier.
no no no no, you need to try to assist because not only people is looking at that but there pointing the fingers at the parent. & if shes 8 years older she like in school and im pretty sure the tutor wont allow it. && if yall both are ready for a change simply calm her and convey her shes a big girl she dont need blankie anymore.
ps. you def need to have a LOOONG ! conversation. thats unwholesome for a little girl.
Answers: It sounds like she has amazingly little stability and the blanket and "binky" give her security. Instead of focusing on the blankets and binkies I would focus on the underlying problem.
The blankie is nothing. My little sister is 14 and she still sucks her thumb and whenever she does, she holds unto an old pillowcase of hers. The pacifier...I don't really know. I see nought wrong with it really but in public that's somewhat of a problem. My little sister never sucks her thumb in public. Only at home or at her friends homes.. Though, if it's not really affecting her unchanging teeth at the moment, I don't see a HUGE deal with it, she's still young too, I devise that she'd stop with the pacifier as he gets older since most probable kids at school would eventually find out about it.
